ELO Boosting?

So I'm quite new to league but I'm enjoying it so far. What I don't understand is when people purchase ELO boost why would they want that because if you move up in ranks aren't the players going to be better & it will just be harder for you to compete against them?

 

People want to show off I suppose, how good they are, regardless of what's their real skill.

On the other hand, you can learn a lot more if you play higher divisions, even if you constantly lose.

 

Some people are just too busy or lazy to rank up, just want to get the rewards for the season or want the rank as a cosmetic to showoff to friends or in normal games.

 

They lose games in bronze because they are bad, but they think it's because their teammates are bad. They decide if they were in gold/platinum (where they "really" belong) they can finally play to their max potential.

Then they buy plat for $200-300, and proceed to lose every game thereafter for the rest of their lives.

 

everyone has they're own reasons but in some cases boosting will raise you're MMR so high you can maintaine a 50% winrate and climb divisions on you're own
