Downgrading.

Well, i have the installation disks for windows xp. I was thinking about clearing my HD, and installing xp. Because i have vista now. Do you guys think it would be worth it? I hate how slow vista is, and how much ram it uses. Also, if i copy my whole C drive onto a external hd, and once xp is installed, copyed it back, would all my programs go to it?

I'm not a pro at this kind of thing. But I'd recommend it. Vista is horrible. I'm not sure if your programs would work properly if you copied it back, unless ALL of the files stayed intact, all file names are the same and such. But I'd recommend it.

Vista's not that bad...quit bashing it. Just turn off Aero if it slows you down.

 

It's not not like im randomly bashing it, i've had it for months and want to downgrade.

 

I've had like no problems with Vista except like 1 or 2 programs not working lol...

 

I'm guessing you have a god like computer as well.

 

I use a laptop with vista. Its not slow at all. 2GB of ram, 1.8G HD

 

INSTALL XP. i have vista by default its shitty.

 

I did it that way, But the programs would not recognize as installed on the Add remove program thing. I Believe programs like PS would work because ull need the reg. entries.

 

Needs moar Windows 98. I downgraded from XP - 98. xD

 

vista has to many flaws....sure the design is great, but they still need to iron out most of the flaws...

 

your programs SHOULD be fine. AT worst youll just have to install em again and replace all your saves/histories etc. Good choice on the move though.

I have xp and vista (2 computers). I honestly don't see much of a difference.

 

Do it, it shouldn't be that much work, just a little time consuming. I've had Vista for 4 months now and it greatly annoys me in every way.

and if you download a lot of music/movies/games vista is pretty much connected right up with the FBI so youll be put on a watch list right away. XP works fine and most programs dont work with vista so thers no real point to upgrade it.

 

Most of your programs wont work. Though it does depend on the program. Some may, other's will need to be put back into your registry for them to work. No harm in trying it of course.

 

Vista runs as fast on my laptop as XP does on my desktop. The laptop has 3GB of ram and 5000MHZ.
