Dimmu are awesome.

I liked their first few albums more than most of their recent stuff. Especially Death Cult Armageddon. That was horrible. They really did step it up with In Sorte Diaboli though. That album is up there with their best.

Overall, they're a pretty above average band in my opinion.

 

He seems to have better knowledge of real black metal than you do, so shut up.
If all the "black" metal you listen to is Dimmu Borgir and Cradle Of Filth, then you are in no place to decide what's good black metal and what's not.

Tell me Dimmu Borgir is good black metal after listening to some Mayhem and Gorgoroth, I'll do a backflip.

When did I say they weren't? I just said that they, as a band, are not good. Sorry if I missed it, but I dont see where I mentioned black metal in that post. Gorgoroth's music is extremely repetative and Gaahl himself is a douchebag, if you've ever heard any of his interviews.

00 own 00 (or whatever your name is), you're talking about a black metal band being better than another black metal band, you're making a comparison based on that genre.
The interviews are nothing, Gaahl burned down a church, that outbalances how much of an idiot he is.

Also, comparing based on genre? All you said was that Gorgoroth was more pure black metal than Dimmu, which I agree with and that's why Dimmu are a better band. They incorporate other sounds into their music, and compared to Gorgoroth, it makes them sound a lot better.

 

That remark about Gaahl was just humor, but I guess you can go ahead and be an asshole about it.
I don't see how we're disagreeing about anything. We agree on all points of this conversation, I never said Dimmu Borgir is bad music, sure I like them, but I just don't think they're true black metal.

Anyway, Dimmu Borgir is okay, some of their songs are good. As for Gorgoroth, that's fucked up that the original member got kicked out of his own band.
