    In May 2014, Brock Pierce was elected Director of the Bitcoin Foundation. Brock Pierce was the founder of IGE (Internet Gaming Entertainment) est. 2001 which was once the largest and most popular trading platform for online video game currencies. (By the way, PlayerAuctions was owned by IGE from 2004 to 2007.)

    Another cool fact that you might already know. Mt. Gox stands for Magic the Gathering Online eXchange. It was initially meant to be a trading platform for exchanging cards from the online game. However, Mt. Gox, as we all know, ended up becoming one of the largest and most famous bitcoin exchanges.

    I always find it fascinating how many ties Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general have to the online gaming community. Do any of you have any more cool facts to share?
