What in heck is a confirmation?

 

It's a Christian event where you become the member of the church, usually done in the middle school years.

Yeah, though I renounce everything I said back then when it happened. Happened like 6 years ago :| I don't think I really got many gifts.

 

I think I gets about $3.000-4.000.
My brother did get about $3.500

I'm confused.. You are Confirmed but there is not Confirmations in your country.

 

The other people from my class who did get confirmed yesterday did get from $2500-4000 - Hope I get $3500 or something like that

 

Why should people get money for saying they believe in God? Stupid traditions. I can understand gifts at the various coming of age ceremonies but this is just stupid because it isn't tied to any coming of age ceremony.

This exemplifies what our society values most. Wasting money and religion.

They are a good idea, and a good way express your faith.

i did not really want to be confirmed
it was kind of just expected and shit.

i truly dislike christianity and all religions for that matter. but i did get money, so thats a plus

Might I suggest editing the OP with a small description about exactly what a confirmation is, for those of us who have no idea?

I am sure that there is such a thing in my country, but I have never heard of them until I opened this thread.

4. (If Yes) What gifts did you get? I got $15k and a new Pc and moniter, and a iPhone 4s 32gb. Plus $5k that i got from my grandma, because she died some days before my Confirmation........ So, yes...

Bullshit. It is just the church forcing you to swear blind allegiance. Kids grow up thinking its a normal part of life and so the tradition continues.

My parents and grandparents tried to force me into it, I attended all the classes and such, but in the end I was able to get out of it.

I got a lot of shit about being the only logical thinker in my family.
