    Computer Problem

Hey guys, I am having a problem when playing some of the newer games on my computer. The monitor keeps turning off and back on rapidly when I go on a game that has good graphics (doesn't happen on League of Legends, I play on that on Very High), although there are times this doesn't happen for some reason. This makes the games unplayable so I am here to seek for help.

    System specs:

I would download CPUID hardware monitor to view the temperature of your graphics card while playing. It's a possibility your card is overheating on high graphic games.

I have it, but I have never checked it. After doing some research people are saying that the screen refresh rate might be causing it. Also, my GPU fans are only running at 25% by default.

Not to insult your computer skills, but first I'd just try to re-install or update your graphics drivers. I'm suggesting this because I recently had a similar problem with my monitor while playing high-end games, and it turned out League of Legends worked with the older drivers but Call of Duty and Battlefield didn't.

Otherwise, I'd agree that it could be your graphics card or even your PC overheating a bit. You could try to increase your fans' speed as a quick check, and I'd also suggest looking at the hardware monitor's readings while you have hardware-intense games running.

And if it is your refresh rate, which is quite possible, there's a generic quick fix here for Windows settings (Display Settings -> Advanced -> Monitor -> change the rate however you wish; see if it works).

Thanks for the tips. I just tried a game that used to turn it off again and for some reason it didn't turn off. My graphics drivers are always up to date as it always notifies me when new drivers are available (I just checked again there weren't any updates).

I was having this same exact problem about 2 weeks ago while trying to play STWOR. My issue was, as you said, the screen refresh rate. On both monitors that I tried, I kept getting the same error (Something along the lines of "maximum output ***mhz exceeded"). I never found a solution (Though I'd assume I need a newer monitor that wasn't made a decade ago) but I will say that you're lucky that your monitor came back on and that's a good sign, I wouldn't push it though.

Just look into investing in a semi-cheap up to date monitor. If you have HDMI on your comp then go that route.

I have a modern monitor and I use HDMI. I play my games at either 720p or 1080p. I don't get that error message.

I'd look at new monitors, maybe with a better FPS. Are you sure that all your cables are connected properly and the monitor is configured properly in the game settings?
