    Computer Problem; Me n00b

    Hey guys.
    I've window's vista 64 Bit Ultimate ed.

On startup, my drivers seem to work fine, but then,
Once it goes to boot something called "Ready Driver Plus" pops up, and immediately boots up again but with a disabled feature.
Overall the main problem is, even i nsafemode, and such, I can't seam to get my keyboard or any usbs to work after the desktop shows up, my mouse and all of my usbs are disabled.

Any advice guys and gals? Because I really miss my big desktop I hate using this crappy pos laptop >_<
I don't have the original vista cd neither so I can't re-format it, and I have lots of important info on there too >_<

P.s. I have tried running it on safemode as well, but any advice will help right now. I'm open for good tips/advice.

Try these things first, and if they don't work get back to me:

    1) try using a different keyboard/mouse. They might be broken/disfunctional.

    2) Enable your USB plug n play in the BIOS.

    Logitech g5 gaming mouse
    and
    Saitek Eclipse Keyboard.
They're not dysfunctional, I'm using them on my laptop right now. I made sure to check that first.

How do I access my bios? I need more description.

Ahh, I accessed my bios, but yeah.
I just read online that something's already wrong with the ready driver plus program or whatever for vista...

    Ahh jeezum..
I still can't use my mouse and keyboard after vista finishes loading up to the desktop >_<

Google the model numbers and research on google how to get it working with windows 7. It might not be 7 compatible, but a new usb mouse + keyboard is in total about $25...

Okay, well here's some input, the g5 is about 25$ usd.
The saitek is like 25$ usd.

But other than that, they both work fine with vista 64 bit, I've had the computer working fine for about a year or so, it's only acted up now due to that stupid driver problem, I tried finding a default usb driver code in the bios, but I can't find it, the only thing I'm thinking I can do now is find another version of vista 64 bit ultimate ed. and go ahead and get ready for a full reformation or better yet just upgrade straight to window's 7.

    I doubt it's a software/os related issue, however a 20 minute repair installation wouldn't hurt...

Did you say you've looked into updating the drivers?

Also, if possible go into device manager and see if any program has disabled your keyboard/mouse or USB ports. That's also very possible

EDIT: i'm also ALMOST positive that reinstalling windows(if a repair won't work) will fix your problem.

EDIT2: I googled your problem, people have mentioned that this happens after windows update(prob what happened here, in stealth mode update :p) and that updating their drivers have solved this issue.

(Reinstalling windows is the last thing I want to do though considering I have so much stuff saved on my hd* and none of it backed up)
But yeah checked the bios and it's not disabled.
My drivers are all updated. I think it is a software issue, and if only if only I could get my hands on a vista 64 bit ultimate ed without having to bittorrent it over night lol.

You're confusing reinstalling with reformatting, btw. you won't lose anything with a repair installation or a reinstall.

Also, run windows update. this might fix it.

I can't update when I can't even use my mouse and keyboard :p

But erm, yeah I have a cd, but I need a cd-key now.
Mind helping me search for a serial key generator for Microsoft Window's Vista Ultimate Service Pack 1 64 bit
I can't find anything for it.

You can't ask for a key-gen because that's techincally illegal\warez and would equal a ban from here.

However, there are people that have some method of getting keys and they sell them here (non-key-gen keys).

You don't need a key to do a repair installation!

    Mmkay, I did something failed.
    I installed a copy of vista 64..
But the problem is, well I installed it over a whole bunch of pre-existing files, so uh... now what can I do?
I have like only 30gb of space on that disk now... I really just want my original stuff back, but I don't even know how to run a system repair and such, any suggestions?
    Here's a picture of what's going on.

Er, what did you do...? Google tree size pro freeware and download the free version. Do a scan and post the results here.

It'll show us what is taking up all your space.

Dude, the stuff's that's taking up all the space is the original data, that wasn't deleted.
"But the problem is, well I installed it over a whole bunch of pre-existing files, so uh... now what can I do?"

I want to just repair it, and try to get those pre-existing files back, because I don't want to spend about 20 hours reformating a whole entire drive then updating it >_<

All your old files are there. when you did the installation, you kept the old files. Don't delete the windows.old file yet. there could be reprecussions that i will study about in a bit here, k?
