Yesterday I was just playin some runescape when my laptop froze up wich was odd because EVERYTHING froze. The cursor and the keyboard everything. I restarted my computer and now it just get's stuck at the loading screen with "Microsoft Corporation" at the bottom. Before it started freezing up I got a little error saying "Toshiba flash card" has stopped working if that has any relevance to it but that happened like an hour or two before it froze up. I know my computer stuff I didn't download anything or such but I don't know what to do in this situation I can't get into safe mode or anything nothing works. If anyone can help me that'd be great.
My laptop didn't come with any cd's because I think something like it came with it built in or some shit but ya no cd's...
It should be on your hard drive too. When you first turn on the computer press F11 and it should do the restore. The hard drive may not work though.
I think the problem is the video or toshiba flash card or something but I will try booting off an external drive. will give the 411 when I do.
The flash card wouldn't cause your system to not boot, unless your system is trying to boot off your flash card.
haha I know but the hard drive didn't die or it wouldn't boot at all. Oh well my sister's boyfriend said he could probably fix it so crossing my fingers :/
Well what I recommend is that you get a windows vista disc(I don't know where you might wanna get it..)and boot from it. Partion the hard drive with your old files and an empty space big enough to install the OS onto your laptop.Once you've done that see if you still get the same error;if not add all your old files(not all just the ones you use) back to your new OS and then format the disc with the old files and merge the empty space with the new one.
Tried booting off a vista disc. I even got a disc for my specific laptop type with all the drivers and stuff and tried booting off of it. Nothing worked it still just froze up at that loading screen.
Hi, I have encountered the same problem as you. A) When the laptop starts up it will say System Setup/Settings, press f7 or something. From there, navigate your way to system restore wizard
Well if that doesn't work it must be some type of hardware problem. Boot into your bios and scan for hardware changes.
If your hard drive died, your motherboard would still post. Your computer would give you an error when your OS is launching. Are you sure your boot order is set correctly? You may not have been booting off the disk. It doesn't seem as if you are having a problem with your bios or motherboard, just your operating system. If all else fails, slave your hard drives to another computer and see if they are faulty. If you can still access them, grab the data you need and reformat.
I dunno man... I went into the thing and specifically hit the thing "boot off disc drive" or some crap
If you don't have too many vital things on your computer, just slave your drives to another computer and back up necessary files. To do this, remove your drives from your current computer. Open up a second computer, and connect them so that they are "slaves" or drives that the computer will not boot off of. It's basically like adding them in as an internal storage device. You will be able to access them and pull off information if they are not corrupted or otherwise faulty. If you're using a laptop, remove the hard drive carefully and you should be able to replace an external storage device's drive with it and plug it into another computer via USB. If you need help with this process let me know.
