I bought a brand new computer in july and everything seemed fine until now. The monitor will just randomly go to sleep mode and only way to turn it back on is to restart the computer. Ive tryed google but its very vague. I would like to know if the problem is : the comp,the video card,the monitor,or the power supply. Any help is appreciated.Here is my info. Hey, I too have had this similiar problem but I want to know two things before I can answer your question. 1. Did you buy this monitor with the computer in July or is it older? I used to have a monitor that just started to crap out on me, but it was a monitor that had to be at least 2.5yrs + old at the time. 2. Might seem obvious, but is the plug/cable securely placed in the slot in the back of the pc? Thanks, I'll be checking back
monitor is older. Cables secure but I seem to have fixed the problem. I reformatted my computer and its fixed (for now) so it was a file or something I guess.
Nice, if it continues however I would suggest that you look over the monitor itself, because my real issue was it just being a very old monitor.
It very well could be, I would take it to a shop if I were you if it really did continue. However, if you bought this computer off of a website and it is designed to game + hold a high powered monitor, I doubt that it would be ethier of those but maybe the $20-50 diagnosis would be smarter before wasting money on a part that isn't the issue ya know?
I bought it at best buy,well its a quad core with 7bg of rams id say thats enough to hold a high powered monitor,even tho I dont think a 17inch basic HP one is considered "high powered". But this is weird,I reformatted my comp and the problem went away.
You should make sure for one that you HAVE the drivers for the monitor. Windows install Generic PnP Drivers for it. Also, make sure its not set so that the computer can put it in standby to preserve power.
