I want to buy this processor

And use this memory

But the processor says this --"Integrated Memory Controller Speed - Dual-channel DDR3 Memory Controller supports DDR3-1333 and DDR3-1600 memory"


The memory i want to buy is 1866, now does that mean it will only recognize One of my 8gb sticks? Since the duel channel only supports dd3r-1600...

 

The number is just the speed of the RAM. You can use ram rated for higher speeds, but it may not reach it's full potential if it's held back by the processor. But that's not really a big deal.

 

It's not a big deal but I would save a few bucks and buy less expensive ram since the CPU won't be able to make use of the more expensive ram anyways.

 

You are unlikely to notice a performance difference between 1600Mhz and 1866Mhz ram, if you look at benchmarks the speed difference is negligible anyway.

thanks for all you help. ill got with the 1600 and save myself some 10 dollar bills for something else.

This memory for $117 (after promo) is good except being CL10, which isn't half bad.
And with the money saved, buy an i5 4670k.
