Clipping class?

So i was working on some "Ranks" I guess you could call them, and when i was lighting the upper half i realized something, to get it too look right id have to erase everything around the shape i used. Is there any way to do this other then by hand? Cause ive heard of "Clipping masks" and heard they might do the trick, any info?

I want there to be transparent background completely.

 

Make sure the square white box layer is placed directly above the part of the composition that you would like to have it on. Right click this layer in the layers palette, and in the drop down menu there should be an option "create clipping mask"- select it.

 

Also, luke.... if you're just going to create another account to avoid the requested ban on your actual one, why did you ask to be banned in the first place? Haha

 

I Requested a ban because i need to catch up on schoolwork, if i have access to my main sythe account ill be on too much. I just had some free time today and decided to do some gfx and its not worth unbanning my account for one day. I already had this made.
