    Bumping Threads - An idea.

Just thought of this, and it may have been posted before, but here it goes.

You currently can only bump your thread once every 24 hours. This doesn't seem fair, because being the way this site is, the markets move very quickly. Your bump to the top could be brought back down to the bottom in 10 minutes. This leaves little to no time for someone to catch a glimpse of the thread you're advertising.

    My suggestion:

Allow users to bump their thread once every three hours.

    The catch:

Too be able to post a new bump after three hours, the user must delete their post of the previous bump.

    Reasoning:

This gets rid of people attempting to get their post count up, but still manages to help the person's thread become more known.

    Infractions:

Infractions will be intact as how they currently are implemented. If the prior post is not deleted before rebumping after a 3 hour span, the user will be infracted.

    Opionions?

Pretty sure this has been suggested and denied on several occasions, but seems plausible to me.

Will clutter up the "New posts"

    Sorry, no support.

    Bumping Threads - An idea.

I looked up the threads about bumping before posting this, and none were similar to my idea, and if I do re-call, none had an official decision.

Clearly it won't, seeing as people "illegally" excessivley bump already and it doesn't clutter up the "New posts".

EDIT: Your opinion makes no sense now that I realize what the "New posts" section is.

How would a thread that was bumped after 3 hours effect how the "New posts" look at this point in time.

Your opinion is "unofficially" discarded due to no actual relevance to the topic at hand.

Finn has recently voiced approval over bumping reform; you might be in luck.

Like the delete the post idea but that would be very hard to keep on top of it, infractions wise. However if everybody is bumping their topics then your thread will still go to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. pages at pretty much the same rate.

Don't appear on my thread and immediately suggest that I am dumb.

Do you bother reading before posting?

If you can give a relevant answer as to why there would be spam after ACTUALLY READING the thread, come back. If not, shut up and enjoy your infraction.

Lol no, 3 hours per bump? No thanks, 24 hours seems too long, maybe 15hours.

People always read to like the 3rd-4th page, they know how fast the market section is.

I've had my gp thread bumped from the 3rd-4th page a few times in the past.

So you don't like 3 hours with deleting your previous post, and you don't like 24 hours, but you want 15? Where'd you catch that number from.

    Bumping Threads - An idea.

Most mods will give a user the benefit of the doubt when it comes to delete-bumping. I personally let users get away with doing this every 6 hours or so. It doesn't add to post count because the previous post is being deleted. Normal users can't see the deleted posts, so it doesn't add clutter, and when a user deletes his or her own post, it's as if the post never existed (With the exception that mods can go back and check them, as they are only soft deleted.) -- Just don't let any of us catch you doing it any more often than that, or you will be punished severely.

That being said, I'm closing this thread.
