Bump Timer?

Hello, I was just thinking about all the bump and 8 hour bump. Wouldnt it be a good idea if you had a timer on your thread for 8 hours and after that you can bump it but if you try too soon it wouldnt let you bump? please post your feedback

 

I feel that this may fall under "bump button" under the rules, the reason for its denial is because "posting makes keeping track of the time since last bump much easier, allowing for easier enforcement of fair bumping rules." Though I dont feel this explanation is really valid as there would be a bump time log (pretty sure) anyways

However with a bump button, couldnt the OP just post on his thread to bump anyway, any time he wanted to? Also partnerships wouldn't work as well because only the OP would be able to click the bump button.

 

So are you saying this would be good or bad for this community?

 

Well theres been tons of threads on it, and they were all denied because it was on the DNS list. I dont feel that it'd be that useful because its easy enough to just post a bump on your thread anyway. We dont really have that much of a problem with the rule being as clear as "dont double post within 8 hours." Kinda reminds me of "If it ain't broke, dont fix it."

In my opinion the explanation in the DNS list isnt the best, thats all. Ill see if I can get someone to edit it.

 

I honestly don't think it is a good idea, but I feel like you should be able to look at the time that's on your thread and be like well, is it 8 hours sense last time I bumped? I mean it is common sense really... @ Superman I also agree with the if it ain't broken don't fix it.

 

yes. it would be more helpful just to have a timer though.

 

Honestly it's not that difficult to count 8 hours from your last post. A bump button/timer isn't needed, and just adds more unnecessary bulk to the site.

 

Oh, I wasnt doing anything serious on this just suggesting.
