What about a general windows utility type of program? It would be rated on its usefulness, and how easy it would make certain tasks. The type of program itself doesn't have to be specified, but as long as it works, maybe.

Usefulness 2. Innovation 3. Application (how easy it is to use) 4. Eye-candy (a must for nubs who want to use your program) 5. Use of other resources (negative points if you use someone elses code) Mainly focusing on 1-3 and 5, however 4 can be a quick and easy pointscorer, but it won't rate as well as the others. Number 5 will deduct points from your overall score if you have used someone else's code, and you will be disqualified if you are found to be using it without giving credit. The winner will be decided out of who has the highest average score. If you want, I can offer Demonoid invites.
We are trying to pick one... We want plenty of room for interpretation and it be able to be done by semi-beginners and more advanced programmers.
Well maybe we can do a RPG? I don't know if thats possible in other languages but I know in C++ you can make a text based rpg.
It should be a practical program that actually has a common use, I don't think your pokemon program would count.
I made a small RPG in 2 days.... I'm not that far in C++ either. But if you guys disagreee, theres nothing I can do about it. Omfg....we all lose

In all honesty the first contest should be something simple, an RPG would be a good idea. Have a bit of everything (input/output, reading information from the internet, using variables, etc...) that way it's not just one simple section or programming, and everybody can get involved.
