Bible Question

First off, srs thread is srs.

Why do people sell bibles, when the primary objective of Christianity is to spread the word? Don't you think they should give them away for free, instead of charging for your prayers?

Another thing i thought of, that makes me think Christianity is just to consume the soul..and wallet!

 

Because some people believe that the basis of religion is money.

Remember that people are greedy, and everyone is in it for the cash. If they can get money out of religion and prayer you better believe they will.

 

Does it always have to be Christianity being attacked, tell me one religion that everything in the religion is "Free".

Also isn't Sciencetology a better example since you pay to join.. and have to keep paying.

BTW if you go to a church you will be given a free bible, if thats your problem.

I dislike Christianity, and have no problems with people who follow that religion.

But to be honest, if you advertise selling a book that would "save you" and you have "proof" that it can, then you my friend will be rich.

But the funny thing is the proof is just distorted/differently-explained quotes from the book they are selling you.

I think it's a very smart thing to do, making money off the ignorant. They are not forced to buy a book, it's their choice.

 

Bible is the most sold book ever... Top sold book lists do not include the bible, because the bible has always been number 1.... Bible is the fail, and they sell it because they just want to make money off of stupid peoples.... >.<

 

The people who sell them need to live too and need money. It takes a lot of paper and ink to make a Bible, so the sellers aren't greedy ass holes, they just need to live too. Now if there was some type of donation toward them, then they should give them for free.

Bibles aren't old to make a profit, in fact in many cases Bibles are given away by churches to people that need them most. The only reason that Bibles are sold is because just giving them away to everyone would burn up a ton of money and the churches would eventually go bankrupt.

 

??? He himself doesn't get the money, the church gets it so they don't lose money and so they can pay their bills.

Seriously though, producing Bibles is not free. You need to gather all the raw materials, from trees to workers to machines, etc.

 

I feel bad that you have been mislead so. Christianity is not the atackee they were always the attackers.

 

Ok, I'm an atheist but this is one hell of an ignorant thread.

The bible's publishers aren't deities as well they need money to survive, and to make more bibles they would need something to cover the publishing costs. Maybe if they were made for free then this argument would make sense, but come on now..

They do give away bibles at almost all churches. And when they sell bibles almost always a percentage of the profit is used to make those free bibles.

 

Because it cost the company money to produce The Bible, and if they want to continue producing it (continue spreading the word of Christianity-the primary goal of the religion) then they need to charge you for it.

Remember it's a company producing The Bible, not the church. Two very separate entities.

 

You guys have to remember that printing a 2000 page book 1 million times and giving it away free would utterly stupid.

Just because it is "religion" who cares if they make a profit? The publishers need jobs too...

Also to all the people saying they have to pay for things, isn't spreading the word about jesus more important?

 

Ok stop. They wouldn't be to spread their "Word of Jesus" if they couldn't cover the publishing costs to do so.

 

Then don't do it in the form of something that you have to pay for.
