    Anti Scamming Methods

    Hey guys and gals,

I was thinking really hard about some ways to reduce scamming and I seem to have gotten some information regarding companies, which work with the FBI and The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, which investigate fraud, with a reported success rate of 78%, via PayPal dispute representative after telling him of my bad trade, with a “trusted” member of Sythe. I will be providing the name as soon as the mod’s verify my info, hopefully soon.
To get to the point, these agencies have sophisticated technologies that are able to track certain individuals given one can provide an email at the least; from there they will investigate the information provided and build a case on the individual.

I am proposing that Sythe mod’s try and interact with them, or providing access to them via a section.

Also, if a person does scam and then the proper authorizes are called in to handle it, the mod’s can post the individuals name or email and we can further add to the case. Be warned that all info is to be investigated by the company, so this also reduced the chances of false claims.

We should not forget that these scammers could have scammed others or are going to in the future, thus if Sythe can be backed by these companies, scamming would decrease and more legitimate sales would be processed.
If this is accepted I will provide links and info regarding the agencies to mod’s and we will go from there!

    Thank you for your time,
    Ali

I don't really think the staff will want to go to this effort. I'm sure they've heard about these things before and haven't done this for a reason.

Well I think it would be very beneficial if they create a section detailing how an individaul can submit his claims then they can list the persons email if the company decides to take action.

Of course an anti scam method would be good, but this is too far for sythe to go i believe.

I don't think that Sythe wants an e-police standing around the site. That doesn't look good. Nor do I think they'd do it out of their own good graces - not to mention they aren't going to track person x down for scamming $3.00.

Preventing scams is a common sense thing - If it's too good to be true, it most likely is.

Unfortunately Feren is correct. There is no way to solve scamming. It will continue to hurt the site as long as Sythe keeps it running. ABout the method though, I think it would work with big trades such as 100$+. If the staff had the time I think it could be used and helpful taking out some of the big offenders. Another thing you could do is just go after the person your self. If you are scammed then use the name of the paypal and email to trace the person down. I remember seeing that Spyike did that a while back to a scammer. He contacted the kid's parents and got his money back. Not only that but the kid is way beyond screwed for what he did.
