    Adding a light?

On Photoshop CS5, how do you add a direct light to something e.g. a title? I've seen a GUI type box, and inside that is a circle with a "+" cross-hair in the middle. If it is this, where can I find it?

That is a filter and I believe it is under the generate tab. I don't use it because you get much better control if you do the lighting yourself with a softbrush, layer masks, and messing with opacity.

For really basic stuff, just use a large, soft, white brush and click or drag a few times. Then set the layout to Soft Light (wouldn't have guessed right?) and you have a lighted area

I found the thing I was on about now, but you and Nero have both said that using brushes is better, so I'll have to look at the some time, thankyou :)

What you might be talking about is called "Lighting Effects" located in the "Filter -> Render" menu at the top.

And then there's "Lens Flare" located in the same place just above the "Lighting Effects" option.

I think he was actually talking about a lens flare (has the crosshair cursor to place it on the canvas). Filter > render > lens flare
