What is everyone position on abortion. I know that most girls are Pro-choice... Plz post your thoughts.
I was, until recently, very much pro-life, but I have changed my views on this. A woman is in control of her own body, and the government does not have the right to interfere and tell her what she can or can not do with it, especially with something so personal as the child she carries. Yes, it ends a life, but I think the decision should be entrusted to the mother, as nobody knows better than her what is best for her future, and that of the child.
I completely understand your thought of pro-choice, although it is still somewhat selfish to not give birth... At least give birth the baby and give it to a family that deserves it... I dont understand how you can say a mother knows what is best for her child is death? She has to be thinking of only herself and that is not what being a mother is about...
Shredder is of course right that no one has the right to authoriz(s)e any changes to a womans body, other than the woman herself. However, there are multiple steps which can be taken from becoming pregnant carelessly. Of course abortion is 100% acceptable for rape victims.
I think the women should have her own choice of an abortion or what ever it is she may want. It is not selfish to have an abortion... not in my opinion. Especially if say you were raped. Would you honestly want to have that baby... let me rephrase that. Would you want to be forced to have that baby? I wouldn't. There are other examples but that is one. I think the law is fine how it is now. Before 16 weeks (I believe it is) is a good limit.
So is the death of any living thing therefore completely immoral? What about cows? Mice? Insects? Bacteria?
I still think that abortion is wrong, but if a woman wishes to get a abortion it is her choice, unless it is my baby...
And that, Jaamal, is perfectly acceptable. The majority of Americans, according to a 1994 study, said that they would not have an abortion personally, but supported the right for others to be able to choose.
