A problem with Porn.

Ok here goes...

I was offered a job with adult entertainment, I won't name the company yet. After I got out of high school and into college my parents wanted me to find a job. I tried very hard to find a job and didn't have much luck.

So one day I was posting around looking for random hookups because I was bored and new to sex (still am new). While I was looking for sex a recruiter for a company contacted me with a possible job offer. I'm guessing they saw my pictures and liked what they say(?)

So I called the recruiter and he was explaining to me the interview process. Basically they wanted to know (1) Would I be on time, not flake and prompt. (2) If I was comfortable with myself and being nude on camera. (3) My performance and stamina. And some other things...but those were the main things they were looking for.

So anyways... We had the interview at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The first part of the interview was talking, paper work, me getting comfortable. After the boring paper work and measuring and etc. We started watching porn and stuff.. Some of the things that I might be doing.

The second part of the interview was a performance part. Me and person who I didn't know.. We were having some fun, I won't go into detail because this is a runescape forum lol

After that me and one of the guys from the company was going over the contract. Because of my age *18 years old* and some other factors, he told me that I am worth 52k per SeO or video for short.

In the contract I have to do 6 or more of these in 1/x year. And they're done on the weekends. So that would be 60k*6. Good money right?

So I have to fly out to Miami where the studio is.. All travel expenses are paid for.


The problem with this.

My parents/family do not approve of this. They are ashamed that I would do this. Also a few of my friends view me as a different person now.

Do you guys think I should back out and just get a normal part time job? Or just take this offer and run with it?

I'm serious thinking about just doing it.

 

You need to understand that you're not doing this for anyone else but yourself. If your parents have a problem with it, tough.
The pay's great and as long as you're okay with making pornographic films, then I suggest you go through with it.

 

Moving to the propper section.

 

I know. But.. They have a way of making you feel really bad about yourself. So yeah Mom was like... "Why don't you just get a job at Mcdonalds..." I applied their 6 times with no luck.

However... I already signed the contract... I don't know If I could just quit...

 

It's your life, all that matters is if you're comfortable with what you're doing.

It's your life, and if you're comfortable doing this (I don't mean 'uncomfortable' because other people tell you not to) then go for it. If you let other people tell you what to do with your life, you'll just be a miserable pile of regrets later.

 

Another solution would be to not tell anyone. Make something up when you leave to shoot videos.

Its your life, do what you want, if you wanna get payed to get blown and fuck hot chicks then do it, honestly if i were you id go for it, if your family cant accept you for who you are they arent good family to be honest,plus the pay owns.

I'm going to go ahead and do it. I'll try to leave with out the family noticing. However, that would be hard to do because the studios are on the east side of the U.S.

But yeah it's fun to do and it's a great experience. Augh why do people have to be so difficult when you do something out of the norm?

You may not put the job on your resumé, but your name will be attached to the videos - if you do this, you have to keep in mind that the tapes will be out there, and that it can come back to bite you, depending on where you want to go in life.

That said, I personally think society's taboos on nudity and sex are a bit extreme and unnecessary; if it's something that you don't mind doing, then I see nothing wrong with it. You have to understand, however, that parents are taught that it's part of their responsibility to protect you from things like sex and drugs, and they probably consider it their own failure if you accept the job - hence all the pressure to steer you away from it. The best you can do is talk to them, explain that you know what you're doing, that it's your life, that you've made a rational decision, etc.

 

This, as long as you never plan to enter politics or a position of power, you should be fine. Some people do porn for life, and it's a great career, but don't expect a career change to be easy, and they'll probably chew you up and spit you out.

You'll make a lot of money quickly, but porn stars come and go rapidly with new talent.

 

I dont think alot of parents would aprove of it but they would learn to live with it im sure.

Your freinds should be supportive i no i would be if it was my freind in the position.

In all honesty it's not as if it's that bad in todays society i would of thought its not as bad as it once was.

Porn is actually a terrible career; it's very difficult to find someone interested in a serious or meaningful relationship while you're doing porn, and as pointed out, it offers very little job security. I would assume it would be an even less stable job for male porn stars, as most porn is directed at straight men who are presumably more interested in the female lead(s) than who the male costar is.

It's better to think of this as a one-time thing.

 

I wouldnt recomend this as a "carreer" persay, but its good pay he can use for a couple years out of college, also how you said it stays with you, most porn stars have fake names and even still when was the last time you saw a porn video that included the males name in the title? Nobody cares about the dude but hes making mad cash having sex. I'd still say go for it until you find a better career.

 

Honestly, It's your life. Do as you wish, but keep in mind that if you do pornography, it won't last. As sin said, It's not a career. It's a one time thing. You'll make a couple videos, and it'll ruin your life if you are hoping to get a nice job.

 

You're old enough to make your own decisions. You need to understand both the pros and cons to the situation. You might make some nice money now, but it won't last forever. If you decide to go any furthur, it can honestly affect the rest of your life. It's your life, don't let others make decisions for you.
