A Bit Bias.

Towards the end of January, I was given an infraction for the following thread:

(EDIT: The thread was deleted but it was simply me requesting to buy a guide with certain specifications.)

With the reasons:

11. ANY "BUYING GUIDE" THREAD

And

1) Do not post a thread requesting a guide. Request a Guide here: [Click Me!]

Now, I suppose the infraction was just but it seems that I'm the only one who certain moderators come down on. I back up my claim with the following.

This thread was simply moved. Though it breaches those two rules, it was only moved.

These are only a few of the ones that I constantly see in there, yet no one does anything about it.

I believe that everyone should be infracted, or at least make the rule stand out a bit more if it's honestly that crucial.

 

Staff members reserve the right weather or not to infract someone or not to. If you feel that you were infracted wrongly, post in the dispute forum.

 

I'm not necessarily saying the infraction was unjust. I'm saying that if the rule is there - It should actually be enforced.

 

Then it is simply the Market/Global mod's duty to delete those threads.

2. I don't check the guide section every day and I don't have time to contstantly be on watch for these types of threads.

3. If you REALLY wanted them to get infractions and bring them down with you, you could of just reported them.

4. Some of those threads you listed are from behind the fifth page, and honestly if you want to go and report EVERY thread that breaks the rules go ahead. I've already cleaned the ENTIRE guide sections back when I was a RS Mod and I'm more than happy to do it again.

5. I've done what has needed to be done to the listed threads, next time just use the report button.

 

Well, I don't have much of an argument for that, I suppose.

I still believe that the rule should be illuminated. If even moderators are misinformed about it, you know something is wrong. You know what I mean?

 

It might of just been a mistake by said moderator, and maybe he should read over the sections rules again. That rule is posted in two, maybe three, stickies and should be noticed.

 

I don't really see the point in posting this just to take others down with you, or why you would feel better knowing that other people got in trouble for breaking the same rule as you.

You probably got an infraction and nothing else happened from it, right? How do you benefit by getting others infracted too?

One infraction is not the end of the world, mods don't hate you, and you won't be discriminated against because you recieved one infraction.

 

I appreciate your input, and of course this is open discussion but you've misconstrued my post.

The infraction is minor, to say the least. It means nothing to me. I'm not here to "Take others down with me", either. It's the principle of it.

Badger - Fair enough. Though I don't fully agree with the rule, I'll leave it at that. You can't blame me for having this mindset, because the way things were played out. Anyway, I just wanted to bring all of this to your attention.

 

I understand that you're not trying to do that, but that's what you ended up doing.

It's not the Mods who are at fault here, it's the average Sythe user who chose to report your post, but left the ones you listed unannounced.
