I know its not much :( but I have started A level maths which I thoroughly enjoy :) I do very much enjoy maths and hope to take it further :D Completed C1 which is fairly basic covering differentiation, coordinate geometry, etc... :)

It's great that you've found something you like. Personally, despite me doing advanced mathematics at school, I hate it and can't wait to get out of the course when the year ends haha.

Maths is boring, physics is where it's at :)

Not really into maths, but I have a friend that really is. He started out when he was 16 and in two years he was doing graduate level maths. It's now two years after that (age 20), and his knowledge of maths is quite unbelievable. Just think of Good Will Hunting, and that's pretty much him (minus the janitor solving all of the problems part). His name is pretty well known around some top tier universities, too. He's gotten letters from Stanford and some other college (I think Columbia?) asking him to transfer.

I also take Economics, Design, Accounting, English and Media Studies. Next year I'm basically just continuing them and leaving Maths in the dust haha. I've found I have a passion for Economics and Design though, so all is well.

Physics involves high levels of calculus, so lulz at you.

I'm currently in Calculus 3, moving onto Differential Equations next semester. It's fun but challenging.

I really don't like Calculus 2. I can do all the shit but I'm far to lazy to memorize everything so I'm not doing as well as I normally do (normal = A). I might get a B so fuck going into Calculus 3.

Calculus 3, in my opinion, is significantly easier than Calculus 2.

I'm just finishing Calculus 2. Literally the easiest and most fun math class I've ever had. Calc 1 was hard, but that's because I never paid attention because I took it when I was getting college for free and it didn't matter to me at the time. Calc 2 is really fun though, we're doing center of mass and center of density atm, where we take irregular pieces of sheet metal and find the point at which it'll balance on the head of a pin

I think that it's a bad idea to try to memorize things when studying maths. You should work on understanding things and learning it that way.

For example, when I was in high school, I never "memorized" trig identities because once you had an understanding of what was going on, it was easy enough to just derive them whenever you needed to. Eventually after using them enough, you end up having them memorized.

Pure memorization is only going to hold you back. A lot of what you learn builds on previous parts and you'll end up further and further behind conceptually and have difficulty applying it to anything real-world.

Lastly, understanding and remembering that way is substantially easier than memorizing in the long run.

Most places in the US only have Calc 1, 2, and 3. Some places split Calc 3 (I think it's Calc 3) into Calc 3 and 4. I think Mississippi does this, not sure what other places do.

Calculus 1 and 2 is considered single-variable calculus, and calculus 3 (and possibly 4) are considered multi-variable calculus. I'm not 100% of what I just said, but I'm pretty sure. Someone else can either confirm or deny.

As Snoopchicken said, Calc 3 is generally easier than Calc 2, because Calc 3 is 1 and 2, but multivariable; as in, 3-space. Instead of a function with respect to x (f(x) = x or y = x), it will be with respect to x and y (f(x,y) = xy or z = xy).

DE is considered "Calc 4" at my college.

Same here. People normally just say calc 1, calc 2, multivariable, and differential equations.

I hate trig. I understand everything just fine but unless I have a nice chart of all the identities in front of me I can never remember them all. My teacher lets us put them into our calculators but its too hard to read them so I fuck it all up. I can do the problems just fine on homework but in a test I fuck it all up since I can't recall all the shit.

Same thing for all the theorems in calc 2. Way too damned many of them and I can't be bothered to remember any of them. Oh and random integrals. Fuck remembering the like 9000 you need to know so you can do more complex problems quickly. Again. Perfectly fine on homework when I can just look up what some very standard integral is but fuck it on tests when it makes the problem at least twice as long when you have to come up with an integral that you really should just know. Fuck dat shit man.

Both of the people who took calc 3 at my school that I know both hated it. There's also nothing hard about calc II. I just hate it because I find it very hard to remember all the integrals and trig and theorems. Doesn't help that my teacher's big on just knowing stuff and wants us to memorize theorems word for word, for some reason. He's a great teacher and let's us put everything in our calculators but that gets too damned annoying.

I love math, the problems are like puzzles and are often fun (this might sound weird to some people). While they did have some interesting points, history and english were never very fun to me.

I took AP Calculus BC at the end of senior year of high school. We covered basic differentiation, implicit differentiation, integration, volumes, all that fun stuff.

Oh my god lol, this actually happened to me when I started doing maths at college. I used to hate it at school but since I entered advanced maths I love them!

My name was actually chosen "integrate" because I was doing some integrations right before knowing of Sythe lol
