Obviously, cutting out distractions like Runescape, PS3, TV etc. is very important if you want to succeed in getting good grades. Or at the very least, limit the amount of time you spend on those things. Try to set aside a certain amount of time that you spend on homework daily, at the same time. For example, instead of watching MTV for 2 hours after school everyday, try using that 2 hour period to study or do homework instead, every day at the same time. You will begin to build a solid routine and it will help you to stay organized and succeed. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions. Make sure you are aware of where you can go to get help, whether it is from your teacher, a help resource center, a tutor, your parents, or a friend/classmate that can help you if you need it. Asking questions ensures that you fully understand the material, and goes a long way towards helping you be as successful as possible.
Hey bro I live in the UK too,What exam board was it? OT:Isit your first year in A levels, and can you retake?
I cut ALL the excess shit I used to do. I think clearing my mind of clutter like the stresses of work/too much rs/etc helped me function a lot better. I do everything last minute, but I'm working on that. (I never curbed my procrastination habits) For the most part I ensure I'm always paying attention in class, sometimes when I'm bored I try to hype myself up about my future and that motivates me enough to review/read ahead on my subjects.
This. Some people are afraid to ask the teacher questions, because for some, they think it would make them look dumb in the eyes of their friend's and classmates. I suggest you do so, if you haven't. Ask a friend who understands it, which part you didn't understand or possibly forgot. Not in class, but through Facebook or an IM. This would be more convenient for the both of you, as it would be easier for you to take notes of what your friend(s) tell you. Get enough sleep, wake up earlier before school (if you don't wake up early enough). It helps you as you would be awake for a longer period of time before going to school, and it will help you focus more than you would when you just woke up.
