07 ShutDown

So I have heard rumors through the game and other what nots that they are talking about shutting down 07 scape already. Everyone's thoughts if this does happen?

I call BS, there's always going to be rumours. I don't see them going back on this one with ~500k paying accounts in support.

 

I am just saying what I have heard, through people ingame that if we don't get to 500k they are going to disban it and then it was basically a money pit for us to fall into.

 

Probably a rumour spread by those EOC newfags who can't deal with their update being delayed by 1 week, and are now attributing the blame on 2007scape.

I am in agreement with all the above replies. They have over 336,000 active old school players. Plus they said if the were to get close to 500k they would call it good enough. Were at 420k at the moment. I see the servers here to stay for awhile.

 

I hope that they do stay but I could also see this being a complete money scam by jagex to be honest.

 

Say if 100k players pay for the second month - thats half a million dollars. Do you think any business would refuse $500k in one month on top of whatever they make as it is now?

Doubt they'll take the servers down soon. In a year? Maybe. But it depends on how many people play then.

 

No way is it going down, would mean a BIG no. of players losing trust.

 

Technically just need 50k more, so I doubt we'll fall short of the requirement

Jagex knows this thing is a cash cow, they won't shut it down without milking every last cent out of us.

 

Even though they are known to be notoriously cut throat, I don't think they would shut it down after pocketing $2,000,000.

 

Why on earth would they close it? Its a massive hit. Its what the players wanted; and we have clearly shown that.

 

It won't be shut down yet, personally, I think it'll die out eventually within 5 months, unless 750K votes are made and it becomes a free service for all.

 

Yeah but let's say it dies down within the next two month and turns into as dead as runescape, then I feel like these rumors could turn out to be true.

 

If it dose go dead I think it would turn into like RSC where theres only 3 worlds probly all on the same server witch probably only cost 50$ a month for jagex to up keep so I don't see it closing any time soon

 

they are updating it fixing bugs constantly these rumors are just fake, if they where going to shut them down they woudnt have bothered to fix bugs etc

 

It will not go dead anytime soon, seeing that its getting quite popular. I will just dismiss it as a rumor.
