Maybe try 60 attack and 47 defence at first, if you do not enjoy it you will always have the opportunity to either go 75 attack or 70 defence while staying 60 attack.

Alright so lets say you max out combat stats and have either 60 or 75 attack, as you can see in the pictures, gaining an additional 2 defence levels does not affect your combat level. It also depends on prayer level obviously.

I would not say that you have ruined it. Depending on your end goal for it, the defence will not affect your combat level in most cases. Think you should just keep playing it as it is. Another alternative is to turn it into a med level, 70 defence or 75 defence.
