Scammed, need advice.

I'm a 19 year old that still enjoys playing Runescape. Recently I was just scrolling through craigslist just for the heck of it seeing if there were any cheap/legit sellers. What caught my eye was "https://www.facebook.com/LiquidGoldSales" It looked extremely legit because there were 1000 likes on the page and there were legit comments. Keep in mind I wasn't thinking about how you can buy social media likes now but they only had 1000, you'd think they would purchase more. Anyways I sent a message via facebook and a few days later the guy tells me to give him a call so I did. Basically in the end I sent him $975.00 for Runescape gold, with a $95.00 fee through Western Union. Now I've been trying to contact him ever since and he's kinda been sketchy and ignoring me. I've already filed a police report of our text messages and gave a brief explanation of what happened. So I'm just waiting on the police reports response. Here's the tough part too, he has multiple phone numbers all linked to him but I'm afraid they're all prepaid Verizon phones and they aren't trackedable/traceable. Or are they? I work at the Geek Squad so I went ahead and typed in the name he gave me so he could pick up the cash. "Dean Sedlock" I found an address and a phone number that was disconnected. Now my question is can "Dean Sedlock" be a fake person and not exist but can still pick up the Western Union money as long as their license/ID says the following name. Basically I'm stuck in the situation and I've text this guy to refund me and he just ignores me, what more can I do. Can anyone here give me a suggestion on what to further do or if anyone can help me if I provide you with information I've found about this scammer?

 

Nowadays, you don't need to show proof of license/ID when picking up cash @ WU (at least from my experiences). I hate to sound like a downer, but I'm afraid there's nothing you can do to get your money back, as WU payments are irreversible...

To be quite honest, I think you're outta luck :/

 

You could try to contact Facebook and provide them with a copy of the police report detailing the Facebook account he created, they may provide the department you filed your report at a location from the IP.

 

I suppose, but it's highly unlikely FB will lift a finger and even higher unlikely that his local police department will follow up and take some sort of action. Even though $1000 sounds like a lot, it still counts as petty theft in my state (California) and the police aren't gonna bother pursuing leads.

 

And I live in California...fuck.

 

For all we know, they bought those facebook likes. It costs around $50 - $100 nowadays to buy 10,000 facebook, youtube, twitter likes and so on. So from the outlook of them being legitimate due to the amount of facebook likes they have...I'm sorry buddy, but that's just poor vigilance on your part.

Regarding Western Union, if the money has already been picked up on their end, then there is nothing you can do.

 

just buy off some one that is trusted on sythe next time

 

i have no idea how to deal with this but i hope you won't just let it go! It's close to a 1000 dollars and the scammer's going to repeat his scams again and again.

 

simple, buy 1000$ worth of gold fro a trusted member, bet it with a trusted member, win double and your losses covered..
then in future buy form trusted
