What is NoFap?

NoFap in itself is the act of not engaging in solo sexual activities or seeking arousal via viewing of pornography etc. Now I specify solo since you are allowed to engage in sexual activities with another party during this NoFap time.


Science Behind it?

A basic summary is that with the availability of porn our brains are receiving super-normal stimulus. This is due to every time we view a picture/video some dopamine is released into the brain (what makes us feel happy, etc). Our brains are not designed to handle the overload of dopamine and in the long term you can loose motivation to do things and seek out even more extreme versions of porn as vanilla porn is unsatisfactory due to your dopamine receptors "dulling out", e.g. similar to drinking once when you are new to it, you can't handle much but after time your resistance to it grows.

Potential Benefits

Apparently everyone responds differently to NoFap; here are some of the potential benefits:

• Reduced acne
• Increased productivity - actually want to do things that aren't fapping
• Increased enjoyment in sexual encounters
• Sexual aggression (Good for the timid types)
• More energetic - Helps with lifting
• Less sleep required, earlier mornings/later retirement
• Increased confidence - Feeling more Alpha. People may pick up on this due to the differences in your mannerisms and like you more for it.

FAQ & Glossary

• Reset - You have to reset your day count due to failing
• Relapse - When you fap unintentionally during your chosen streak of NoFap
• Reboot - When your brain (mostly your dopamine receptors) has returned to a natural state
• Flatline - This is a period when you have no libido. Some may experience sadness, lack of motivation and laziness, etc. Others will not feel any of these. NoFap affects everyone in different ways. Apparently a few people get worried that their dick isn't going to work so they fap to make sure it still works. DO NOT DO THIS as you will fail the reboot process. It is a normal part of the process and it will go away.
• Edging - This is masturbating to near orgasm. Despite not blowing your load, edging also fucks with your dopamine levels (you feel good) so you cannot do this and should reset your day count if you edge.
• Intercourse is allowed - Sex, Blowjobs, Handjobs etc are allowed as you have to pursue women and work for these orgasms. Scoring with chicks is one of the reasons for NoFap anyways.
• What's the difference between fapping and sex? - Unless you’re really intimate with your hand, and you had to make a chit load of effort to get your hand in the same room as you, no. It’s far more rewarding both to you and your brain’s reward circuitry to have intercourse, you have to work for your orgasms.
• I got with a girl but I jizzed via fapping - This doesn't break your NoFap streak as the girl is present. You do not have to reset your count.
• How long should I do NoFap - The general guideline to reboot your brain is 90 days, although it varies depending on age, addiction status and brain function. Some have 150 days as a target, while others set personal targets ranging from a month to an entire year. Then there are those who have quit it entirely... In my opinion 90 is a pretty arbitrary number, if you can go that long why not longer?
• Is a wet dream a relapse? - No this is just the body cleansing itself of excess sperm. While they are a bit messy and require you to wash your underwear earlier than usual, embrace them. It is a sign that you are doing well and to keep going.
• Likely to get action, should I fap beforehand so I last longer? - No. There is no point in you making so much progress just to orgasm for the first time in ages from your hand again. Let her finish you off quickly, and go for a second/third round. Most users on misc report being good to go again within a few minutes. If she makes a big deal about it, she’s not worth your time.

Every now and then I'll be posting updates and seeing how you guys are going. 90 days is my goal as this is the approximate time it takes to restart your brain. The 90 days is irrelevant though, if I get through it and I find its great then I'll just give up fapping forever.

Legit none at all haha. Just to give more detail, I wasn't doing anything at all I went straight up nun. I didn't count the days, but it had to have been a few months. I don't know if there were any benefits, because I was only doing it because I was feeling disgusted for some reason lol.
