First: Rationalist ethics are based in logic.

Second: If I value X, but in order to have X then must put up with consequence Y, then as long as I don't value the absence of Y more than I value the presence of X, it is not contradictory to put up with Y.

Example: If you had a dog that you liked, and it slobbered on you, and you didn't like being slobbered on, you might still like the dog enough that you put up with it.

Man is that an apt analogy for sythe.org.
