Very Basic Color Enhancment on digital art or similar

This is not the easiest way, nor is it the best way, it is just a simple way that provides control over specific parts of an image.

First off, I did not draw the character, I just rendered it. I can't draw, Personally, I am not even a fan of this kind of art. However, I thought the image he drew that he had me render was so washed out it needed help. So I made this tutorial for him to show him an easy way to enhance his colored drawings. Figured somebody here might find it useful.

It is sort of to the point, if you have any questions feel free to ask. Again this is basic, not the best way but not too broad either.

    further explanations below

    1. The new layer should be set to "Overlay" and you will be using a standard brush (any shape / size / color) to brush over the image (on the new layer)

    2. Once you have the look you want, go to your original rendering layer and select the render, hit Ctrl+Shift+I to invert the selection. Then go to your painting layer and press "Delete" to remove the excess brushing from around it.

    3. Done

It is a fast simple way to enhance color, however there are thousands of other ways to do this as well.

PS: If you wanted you could apply these same techniques to coloring a black and white image.
