Will the new gold sink have any relative impact on gold prices?

I am top 100 of bh, and i am happy and sad with this update. Happy because When i kill voiders ill get loot. Sad cause the slayer helm (i) now gets lost. -_-

 

It will affect the demand of gold, but I dont believe its going to be on a great scale.

 

Meh, the Last man standing stuff where each round is a 300k (?) gold sink and this combined might have a small effect. It are good updates though, OSRS needs some gold sinks.

Not a big enough amount of gold leaving the game to affect the prices. Someone still wins the game of lms getting 1.5m, so not much leaving the game, same story with pvp, coins are dropped only like ~20k lost.

 

If a fire cape is only going to be around 50k, I can't imagine this having any lasting affect on the market. If anything the prices will go up if people die enough, even though 50k is a quick amount to make in any version of Runescape.

 

yeah that's what i was thinking.

of course the price won't go up overnight but it'll definitely contribute imo

 

It will likely be a rise in price overtime. If you take into account how many untradeables there are in Old School, and if every one of them cost 50k to repair, then it will take quite a while before any one person would have to buy gold or get gold in any sense. Our markets will likely stay unaffected.

I honestly doubt the amount of gold the farmers bring in < the amount of gold lost from this update.

 

don't misconstrue things, most goldfarming methods do not 'create' gold they just meet demand

things like rune mining etc create gold as they can be directly alched for equivalent coins, dragon bones on the other hand not

this update gets rid of gold

 

The economy has like immensely more gold to an extent that this update will struggle to make a dent in the value of GP. Also, not everyone is a PKer as well.

 

Alright, ill follow that logic then. Do you really think the amount of people dying with firecapes/other untradables everyday > amount of gold alched/day?

 

no of course not lol, that wasn't your initial point though and nor was it mine, i'm js that any sink will impact the gold price

 

Will be a short rise in demand but not enough for it to make sellers compete with each other even harder for better rates- Imo wouldn't be worth it nor do i see it having an effect.

 

I don't think prices will rise drastically, but for sure it will a little.

 

You left out this part "If you kill a player in the wilderness who is using untradeable equipment, you will receive 75% of the repair cost for their untradeable items. This makes killing players who are using untradeable gear much more rewarding, while also making using untradeable gear a bit more costly."

Certainly most, but not every single tradeable item that breaks will be recovered or even fixed. Therefore I suspect the impact of this gold sink will be absolutely minimal.

 

Also this part "Untradeable equipment will still be converted to coins upon death past level 20 wilderness. Do not risk untradeable equipment you are not willing to lose past 20 Wilderness." makes that this update may not function as a goldsink at all, unfortunately.

 

Personally, it seems like they're fewer voiders in PvP worlds now, and the majority of the normal pkers have went to Rune Gloves Vs. Barrows now and Climbing Boots Vs. Dragon Boosts. My assumption is now with a death using dragon defender, fire cape, and fighter torso, they believe they shouldn't risk even more.
