The thing you seem to not take in consideration, is that the current minimum wage in general is complete trash. People cannot live on minimum wage which is what fast-food chains pay. It should be raised, regardless of someone having a "skill" it's a good step in the right direction.

Your argument comes from personal experience, you don't bring any legitimate reason why they shouldn't raise it to 15$ an hour. That's more money corporations are spending for people as opposed for their personal gain. Unless you prefer how corporate America continuously rapes American society on a daily basis?

You fail to take into account one thing. With the raise of minimum wage comes the raise of cost for products. As much as I hate to say it, corporations like McDonalds aren't going to take the hit for the increased wages. Instead, they'll raise the cost of their product to account for the losses accrued due to the increase in wages. This not only affects those making these $15/hour wages, but those who actually worked, paid, and dedicated themselves towards earning and learning a skill.

You can say that my argument comes from personal experience all you want, but realistically, my argument comes from a logical thought process.

There is absolutely no reason to raise the minimum wage for people who are doing minimal work towards personal progression. Someone who refuses to better themselves for the sake of their own livelihood should not be granted a minimum wage equivalent to or exceeding the wages earned by people who have dedicated their lives towards a much more economically beneficial trade/skill.

That's a complete contradiction to your point for one main reason. That's a great fucking idea that they'll raise the price of their products. The last thing this overweight country needs is fast food. It would be a complete positive to society in general, for those who are willing to pay more money for that food? Congratulations to them, enjoy the GMO packed foods and trash quality of food. If anything the raise in price of their product is even better for American society.

Wouldn't it be a great idea if they raised their prices? `:p

You're now going off topic, and regardless of the obesity rating in the USA, it doesn't change the fact there are many more professions worthy of earning $15/hour than some high-school dropout who spends their day flipping burgers.

Fast food jobs are and have always been established as ENTRY LEVEL jobs. They're primarily focused towards highschool students looking for part-time or summer jobs, with the purpose of gaining work experience. Fast food is not, should not be, nor should it ever be considered a long-term career choice.

They arent entry level jobs, the median for fast food employees in age is 28. Around 69 percent of fast food employees are over the age of 20. For a majority of fast food employees, it's is unfortunately a long-term career, and not by choice. And how is that off-topic, it complete contradicts that point you brought up. It is a very valid and on-topic point to the discussion in hand lol, if you're going to bring up product price increase.

It is entirely by choice. They chose not to learn a valuable trade or skill. It's not our fault they failed to improve themselves as members of society, and for that, they should not be granted wages greater than those who have learned skill far superior to that of a fry cook or burger flipper.

Oh man you are a prime example of a strong capitalist product, what a wolf pit huh? This is what I hate about capitalism, it completely turns the direction away from the system itself, that's truly at fault and flawed, and turns it upon the individuals themselves who then proceed to turn against one another. This "me, myself, and I" bullshit is really getting out of hand in this country.

You truly think they didn't work hard..? Or didn't know they had these opportunities..? Or that they're "high-school dropouts"..?

Come on man... Modern day American society has become so individualistic, that it's causing this country to fall apart lol...

Let me lay something out for you.

I'm a high school dropout. I still put forth the effort to improve myself for the sake of my future and my career. I earned my GED, I joined the military, and I earned a skill that will ultimately support me and my family into the future. I will ultimately earn $60,000+/yr after separating from the military due to the work and the effort I put forth. Those who stagnated in their "career" field by choosing to stick with fast food only committed an injustice to themselves, and they are far from worthy of earning $15/hour.

Judging by how adamantly you're rallying for this asinine increase in pay raise for an unskilled labor position, I'm starting to believe you fall into the aforementioned group of ignorant dropouts who refuse to better themselves for personal progression, and for that I pity you.

If I am incorrect in my previous assumption, I do not apologize because you're obviously still completely ignorant to the situation and you should re-evaluate your views on this matter.

Ahh the insults come in... awesome... haha I truly love it, the emotion you have invested into this argument is great. Also, I'm a college student with a 4.0 GPA, I've never had a job, nor have I ever wanted to have a job that pays minimum wage. If anything I should be standing shoulder to shoulder with you on the matter from the background I come from. I'm not ignorant at all, you're being completely close-minded and judging by your personal experience of a ratio of 1.0, as opposed to hundreds of thousands of people stuck in the fast food industry as an employee.

You should open your mind and observe both sides of the argument...

    Pros
    >More money for the people, more money to be used for a better lifestyle to lead into better choice making for upcoming generations.
    >Takes away profit these filthy corporations don't need.
    >As a reaction to the 15$ increase of minimum wage, corporations would have to increase product prices, leading to less sale of product. (This would generally be a Con, but considering it's fast food in America, it's pretty fucking awesome.)
    >A step toward reducing power of major corporations

    Cons
    >Other professions aren't paid as much, but require a skill-set.

The pros surely outmatch the cons here... unless you'd be willing to provide more reason for cons? Listen man, I'm not being one sided, I just don't see any cons in this perspective... I would happily take your side if you could provide me cons that actually fucking matter lol. You're not really bringing up great argumentative points against the movement for the minimum wage increase in fast food employees other than by saying "they're dropouts", or "they're doing nothing"... That's just plain ignorance..

P.S. I would insult you back, but it would be highly ignorant for me to judge you when I don't even know you on a personal level nor have you said anything too idiotic.. If I did, that would be true ignorance.

You do realize that ultimately the corporations you speak of won't take the profit hit associated with the raise of minimum wage. They would instead raise the cost of their products.

Ultimately this entire situation boils down the the greed of the 1% and they will throw us to the dogs before cutting their revenue.

This is one of the main reasons why I refuse to reproduce and have a child/children. Our economy is absolutely garbage and those who aren't part of the "elite" will basically never be able to make the changes that need to be made, and I do not want to subject a child, my child, to the bullshit that we're forced to endure on a daily basis.

Our economy is fucked. Our education system is fucked. Our government is fucked. And unless something changes, we as the 99% are fucked.

I mean.. something big is coming... It's pretty obvious. Bernie Sanders is a sign to that...

We're going to hit a political revolution or something tragic could happen, like Donald Trump.

Please. Our current candidates are jokes. Every single one of them. This is the worst selection of presidential candidates I think our country has ever seen.

Well, its horrible but lets break it down... because there's some good.

Bernie Sanders ---> Socialist, but would be amazing for our country. 100% no doubt about it.

Hillary Clinton ---> Simply put as the "Harlot of Corporate America", primarily the healthcare corporations of America which she so was so outspoken against during the 1990's, how ironic.

Donald Trump ---> Don't really have to break him down, other than complete garbage.

They are the worst, and it has been the worst roster of candidates we've had, but it's a sign that America is going to trash soon.. You can't really deny that.

Hilary - A liar and a 2-faced cunt who's gone back on her word more times than anyone can possibly count. This doesn't include the scandal she's recently faced regarding the deletion of e-mails which may or may not (probably did) contain sensitive information which could have ultimately caused harm to the security of the nation

Trump - I agree with you here. There's no need to break him down. He would likely result in our destruction as a nation

Bernie - Has some good ideals, but ultimately I can see them hurting us more than helping us.

Being able to make $10,800 (60 hr/mo.) up to $14,400 (80 hr/mo.) should not be allowed for managing fries and burgers. Meanwhile, the base pay of a solider equates to $18,000/yr. The jobs for a soldier can extend all the way to a nuclear field job (intense stuff) which won't pay more than $25,000/yr. as an E-5. People who genuinely try to argue that $15/hr. as minimum wage needs to happen, need to reevaluate. I understand that the current minimum wage is not a living wage (I've had to work 35+ hr. weeks where I would sometimes still not have enough money for rent, transportation, and food), but the solution is not to hand out $15/hr. Working at McDonald's should not be your career. I know some people can't go to college or do other things with their lives, but that's what government assistance is for - if you absolutely cannot take care of yourself, you have options. Hell, I'm joining the military myself because it's a better way to provide for myself. Granted, I'm possibly putting my life on the line and the job is gonna be way harder, I'll have money in the bank, a roof over my head, and food in my stomach. I'm sacrificing to provide for myself and my family. Maybe it's not for everyone, but that's what is needed to make $15+/hr. Not deciding when to flip a burger. There are plenty of other jobs aside from the military that can give you more than minimum wage, you just have to acquire skills and apply them.

Increasing minimum wage is ALWAYS reflected in product price. If minimum wage goes up so will product and service costs. Why would big companies like McDonalds take the hit on this?

You realize almost every worker in the restaurant quick service industry contributes much more to the company that their wages currently are?

There's actually a metric called dollars per man hour, which works out exactly what your saying.
An ideal $/mh for quick service restaurants is $50. any less and your sacrificing labor and the job is too easy for the crew members, any more and you are putting too much workload on your employees

    Lol what?

Ah the Big Mac index helps here in relation to respective currencies and values. Of course large corporations don't want to help out their working class, obviously to increase their own profits.
