IS IT WORTH IT GOING TO COLLEGE(24 hours to get a response in)

Just curious, I have around 1 day left to make a decision, I already passed it once to pursue my sites and now tomorrow at 5 pm EST is the last day to apply this year.

Would like to hear some opinions from people who have/have not gone, at the end of the day I'll have to make the choice, but I'd like to have some input from others besides my family.

I currently make around $13/hour at one job I work, + what I make from my sites, so I don't know if college would be worthwhile or not.

 

Although I do not run a business on here, and all I do is work a minimum wage job. I would definitely be going to college. I am in a position where I would very much like to go to college because of all the opportunities I think it could open up, but for me I see it as a chance to move away from home, meet new people and see what it's like. I'm sure that last bit is not the answer you were hoping for, but that's just my humble opinion.

 

What are your goals in life? Ambitions hobbies? What would you go to school for? For most scenarios yes college is probably worth it. Or maybe just a trade school will get you where you want to be.

 

I would go into business(marketing,accounting,Management, one those). or teaching.

 

I would definitely go to school. Start slow and don't get burnt out. Start with a few classes a couple days a week if needed. But don't go if you're not ready can't devote time. Nothing sucks more than spending all that money and fall the class.

 

The issue is every waking moment of my life is consumed by my sites or my other job.


I'm working ~13-16 hours every day minus weekends currently, literally between 65-80 hours/week.

I don't know how badly college would damage my income.


See this is a major gamble, because I could quite literally lose a good chunk of my income which is a significant amount.

Me going to college 100% gauruntees my income will decrease because I wont have as much time to focus online.


So not only will college cost me the cost of the classes/books etc, it'll cost me ALOT of money over a 4 year period.

I question whether that giant loss is worthwhile.

 

Yes, nowadays. Without education you're nothing.

Unless your dad/family financially secure you.

-- And after RS/games die? At a certain point they will die. Face it. So no secure income for you.

 

Have you considered an online degree?

 

I don't know if I want to take that path... I want to meet girls and party and shit and enjoy life at some stage(that's why I'm making all this money+ helping my dad pay his medical bills).

I'm about to be 19.

It's really really hard to decide whether the loss is worth that though lol.

 

Most colleges offer both online and on campus classes. It's there any particular reason why you want to start right now?

 

I already missed going to college with people I know.

I'm being pressured by my parents telling me if I don't go now I'll regret it for the rest of my life later when I'm settled down trying to handle college.

 

I'm 23 and still considered a freshman (17 credit hours over the past 2 years) I've been slowly taking classes working towards a mechanical drafting certificate. I do admit it is kinda weird being 3-5 years older than most people in the classes and I do wish I had started sooner (most my high school friends have their bachelor's degree now) but I've been living in my own for the past 4 years and going to school when I can afford and have the time. I agree that is will he more difficult to go to school the further in life you get. Then what happens when your websites stop producing the needed income? You'd essentially be back to square one.

 

Except I have years of customer exp on my resume, and multiple other jobs lol + a good amount of money.

I'm kinda split still.

 

Personally, i attended college after high school for a 2 year degree. I realized that college wasnt really my thing and joined the military. i recently tried to go back to college last year, did a semester, and i hated it even more the second time. spending around 25k-30k and trying to pay that off and try to make a living at the same time is hard. i didnt think it was worth it in the long run, wish i just went right into the military. at this point, ill save my GI Bill from the army for my kids in the future or something

 

13 bucks an hour isnt great by any means, i have no idea why you would be satisfied with that. Runescape wont be long term so get a degree and have a better future.

 

I went to the college today.

Signed up, finalized it, pursuing business management(shocker right?).

Don't know my specific business field yet, wont need to decide till I transfer in 2 years.


Can confirm though that was the first time in my history I've swiped a debit card and lost $2,500 USD ever.


$2,100/semester+ books.

But yeah, I go to college Tuesday !


I think I heard my bank account cry tho.

 

Reading all this looks so weird for me. In Denmark where I live, 85% of us goes to college/university and all financial costs is covered by The Government. Again, some people doesn't continue after high school here and goes to work directly, but in the long term, education weights more and it will secure your future.

 

Regardless what you ultimately decide to do in your life, college is an experience you do not want to pass on. Good luck to you.

 

Unless you're going to get into a trade and become a skilled worker, go to school.

 

Go to school, drop your job and just focus on school + your website. Strive to become better.
