GAMBLING HELP GUIDE


Gambling seems to be a reoccurring issue among the Sythe community. It seems like more often than not, someone is always asking for advice or help. For some people, this may be a touchy subject, for others, it might be a good read. This guide will contain lots of information that could potentially eradicate some of the issues members are having with real life and over the internet.

Definitions:
Terms that would be helpful to understand

an act of gambling; an enterprise undertaken or attempted with a risk of loss and a chance of profit or success

Gambling addiction, also known as compulsive gambling or gambling disorder, is an impulse-control disorder. Compulsive gamblers can't control the impulse to gamble, even when it's hurting themselves or their loved ones.

WARNING SIGNS:
Here are some warning signs that can help identify a gambling problem

-Do you Borrow money to payback or finance gambling problems?

-Do you feel the need to be secretive or hide your gambling problems?

-Do you ever think about self-harm or destructive thoughts because of gambling?

-Do you feel even a small sense of denial when a gambling issue is brought up?

-Do you feel the intense desire to gamble even without funds?

-Do you feel the need to give up belongings to fund gambling?

-Do you have trouble sleeping because of thoughts of gambling?

Adolescence have these problems as well. just because some laws are there, doesn't mean that teens cant have these problems.

EMOTIONAL SYMPTOMS:
-depression

-anxiety

-suicidal thoughts/tendencies

-feeling of hopelessness

PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS:

-Weight gain/loss

-Sleep deprivation

-acne/bags under eyes

TIPS TO OVERCOMING A GAMBLING ADDICTION

-Admit that you have a problem.
This should always be the first step to an [possible]addiction. It may be tough, but the first step belongs to you.

-Get support.
There are many websites to seek help on, but a very common one is Gamblers Anonymous

-Find an alternate replacement to gambling with something positive.
You can explore different hobbies like hiking, photography, fishing, etc.

-Avoid temptations.
Take yourself out of environments that promote gambling. Don't visit the dice forums. Ask for a DNT rank if you really feel the need. Cut bad influences.

-Seek Professional help.
Always turn to an expert if the problem gets out of hand.

gambling sucks, i like to go to the casino here and there and i get greedy and it is an addiction for sure. thankfully i don't spend all my money and i sometimes know when to leave when i'm up. def admitting it is the first step
