Temp Bans and Dispute an Infraction forum

We are going to give this idea a try. Temp bans from infraction accrual with now be changed to:

5 infractions = 3 day ban
7 infractions = 7 day ban

In addition to this, the Dispute an Infraction forum has also been removed.

Please note:

We are not changing the length of temp bans for people that are already temp banned. These people will have to wait out their temp ban because it was given out before the temp ban length was changed.

P.S. Don't think this means more spamming, repeated rule breakers will get a harsher punishment.

I like the idea of shortening temporary bans... but what if the infraction was a mistake? Do we PM a moderator?

 

I prefer the old punishments. You need to update the top part of the The Sythe.Org Official Rules.

I don't understand why we needed the dispute an infraction section removed... We still all make mistakes...

But, I do think this is going to work out. It allows newcomers to mess up and then get back to the Site quickly, and if someone breaks the rules a lot then we can always just ban them for longer.

 

This all looks good.. Except the removal of the Dispute an infraction.. As i have had to dispute a few times and they were reversed.

 

Yep like me.. Without a the "dispute an Infraction" section, I think we'll see an increase in PMs and/or random threads debating them. This will now allow members to start putting their two-cents on an infraction..

 

I think the idea is that infractions don't mean as much as they did, and a borderline infraction doesn't really need a debate as the worst thing that can happen is a 3 day ban if you had an buildup of 5 infractions. If it was a genuine mistake then you can PM the mod or message them on msn. I do agree with Spyike though, we'll probably end up with a lot of threads debating them.

 

What were the old ban lengths?

 

5 infractions are a 2 week ban.
7 infractions are a month long ban.

 

Good idea with the bans, but I don't think you should remove the "Dispute and infraction" forum

Ah, I suppose this new ban length is fairer.

 

But I don't think it's heavy enough to teach them not to spam. 3 days is pathetic. I'd say reduce it to a week but no less. Oh well. What's done is done.

 

Sounds sort of silly to me, seems like this will simply increase the work mods do.

 

This is sort of a trial; if it doesn't work changes will be made.

 

I think it would be better if you kept the Dispute an Infraction forum. For example, I got an infraction for a signature violation, but it turned out it wasn't too big.
