Guide & eBook Changes

Hi all.

As you may have noticed, a new forum has been added to the Market, named Guide & eBook Sales. Previously, the structure for guide sales was a total mess - there existed no forum for World of Warcraft guide & eBook sales, and the forum that was dedicated to ''Real Life'' guide sales was tucked deeply within the Runescape Market, which I'm sure you'll appreciate made absolutely no sense. As such, I have set about overhauling the structure for guide sales & free guide sharing on the site. The changes are as follows:


- All guide sales found within the Market within the 'Guide & eBook Sales' section
-- Introduction of World of Warcraft guide & eBook sales
-- Introduction of ''Real Life'' guide & eBook sales

- Free Runescape guides now found within the Runescape section
-- As these were not being traded, I found it inappropriate for them to be shared within the Market, which is the site's hub for trade

- Guide verification temporarily removed on a trial basis;
-- Guide sales no longer excessively regulated
-- If a user has purchased a guide, they are encouraged to post a review of the guide on the sales thread
-- Replacing guide verification, we welcome users to post guide reviews in accordance with this thread


I hope that you will find these changes to have made the system for guide sales more coherent & accessible than ever before and encourage you all to partake in guide & eBook writing - you may find that you have a hidden talent! And with all talents, it may allow you to make some serious cash!

Very good. Yesterday I was thinking the same why free guides are in the market section if they are not being sold. Thanks.

A prudent guide/eBook seller is likely to give out one free copy of his guide to a trusted user on the condition that they review it, equating somewhat to verification. After that, users are more likely to buy the guide and further reviews will trickle in.

Hope this clarifies.

Much needed update. However, I would strongly recommend reinstating the OGV team for these sections. (You may think im saying this because I'm an OGV. Does that motivate me to say this? Yes, im not denying that. But because I've seen the BTS structure of OGV I know that it is essential in maintaining a legitimate guide selling section.)

Having verified guides drastically increases the integrity of the guide section and the security for the buyer of knowing whether a guide is trustworthy or not. The OGVs are all market-hardened members who deliberate over each and every guide sent to them on whether it is good for the purposes of verification, using both their intelligence and a set of rules based on verification.OGVs check for leaks, plagiarism, do in game tests, and many other things that a random member is not required to do. Allowing a single, "trusted", user to "verify" a guide was previously against the rules and is in no way a better system than OGVs.
