microsoft skype account VS regular skype account

So I was wondering what the benefits are of having a skype sign in through microsoft account versus the normal skype account that can be registered to any mail address.

In terms of security, im assuming logging in through microsoft could be safer considering your login username credentials arent displayed.

for example, rosed.bot, thats my skype ID, its also what im forced to use to log in with, whereas, if i had a microsoft account, my Skype ID would be displayed as live:rosed.bot .

Is this correct?

and if so, what other benefits are there of using a microsoft account.

If anyone has tips on keeping passwords safe and recoveries bound I'd like to hear about those too.

 

two factor authentication is the main reason i only use Microsoft Skype accounts.
