    Hey guys.

It's been about 2 years or so since I've gotten a new PC, and even for that time, I purchased a pretty dated PC. I figured that with Black Friday and Cyber Monday right around the corner, this would be the absolute perfect time to purchase a new computer.

Some specs of my old computer now:
    Processor: AMD FX-6300
Video Card: AMD Radeon R7 360 2 GB

The link to the build that I've come up with is posted on pcpartpicker. The link is: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/MPqG4D

The games that I will be playing on it are some of the newer games such as GTA V, Witcher 3, Fallout 4, etc.

How are the parts that I picked? Could really use some advice on some of you folks who are more knowledgeable on the subject. My budget will be around $1000 or so.

    Thank you so much!

I think with them choices you'll be set for 1080p. However, for the cost.. I'd advise you purchase at least a 250Gb SSD, the 850 Evo's are brilliant. Even if you just use it for an OS install and a few games, and keep the HDD for archiving etc.. Then when you can afford another SSD, RAID them.

The reasons for this may not seem apparent if you've yet to use one. However, general use and application use are at least 10x faster and responsive. for the sake of $100 it makes the build so much better. As well as shortening boot times to a minimum.

Awesome, thank you for the reply. I will definitely look into investing into an SSD. As far as the motherboard, are there any other alternatives that I should pick up? There's a crap ton of other motherboards out there in the same price and I can't really differentiate a good motherboard from a bad one..

Another motherboard that I was looking at is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=13-132-510

Are you looking to save money where you can? Because you can get a 600W bronze certified power supply that will do you just fine and will cost roughly half of what you've got there now. You can also take out the cooler unless you plan on overclocking. CPUs come with stock fans that will do just fine unless you plan on overclocking.

I'd cut the disk drive down to maybe 500GB and put all that money you just saved toward an SSD. USB3 external harddrives end up having roughly the same disk speeds as internal SATA disk drives anyway, so if you run out of space you can viably just use an external drive. Personally I have all my Steam games on an external and barely notice the difference. I only have GTA 5 on my SSD because otherwise loading times are insane.

I can vouch for the MSI motherboard you chose too. I've got the same one (albeit for the previous gen Z87 chipset). Lots of great features. I've had it 3 years now and no problems.

You could definitely find a cheaper power supply and you could get a ssd for windows and such. Your graphics card is extremely good and better to the nvidia counter part at that price point. I think ur build is solid.

Im about to build a pc about around the same price point too and most of our parts matchup

Solid build. I don't like AMD cards but for the price you can't get much comparable in terms of pure hardware with Nvidia. I'd say keep checking buildapcsales on reddit, but I don't know of any huge "blowouts" on pc parts for black friday.

So much hate for the AMD cards. I wouldn't trade my 280X for its Nvidia equivalent any day :p

AMD and Nvidia have the same quality at the same price points, just that performance is different in different ways. Nvidia tends to be better at high resolutions, though where they focus on high res performance they lack in areas like memory bandwidth and texel rates. If you're not focused on gaming on medium settings in 4K then it really doesn't make a difference which card you get. The whole "AMD is for budget gamers" argument is so fucking stupid. Still applies for CPUs, but not for graphics cards.

    Some updates:

I went ahead and bought a Sapphire r9 390 instead of the MSI one because they were out of stock, and the reviews seemed pretty good. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202164

For my cooler, I picked: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4UF2DZ6565

    I also picked a Samsung 850 evo 250 gb as adviced. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147372

The only worry that I have now is if the huge 390 video card would fit in this case this mid tower case that I got :
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146075

Overall, everything (minus the i5 4690k because my gf bought it for me :p), came down to just about $765 after taxes.

If you guys know of better cases, whether it be full or mid tower, I would appreciate it if you guys could inform me!

    Thanks a ton :)

Full tower is hardly ever worth it unless you've got a really beefy cooling system or you just want a lot of empty space in your PC. Any consumer-grade graphics card out today will fit fine in a mid-tower.
