How Fast is your internet?

Ouch, least you're getting it.

I doubt I'll get anything to boost my speed for ages.
Lease for the house is only on for 12months tho, so I might move when it's up. Hopefully to an area with better net.

 

Here's a few of my recent ones.




The middle one (150) is from a school in Wisconsin I was at. The other three are from my house.

I suggest looking into SBHacker.net if you're interested in upping you're speeds. It's only for the very technically inclined though. Also, you must have one of the right types of modems as well as some soldering and electrical skills. But if you really learn what you're doing, you'll never pay for cable or internet again and will have an uncapped modem that you can plug into almost any coaxle, internet ready or not, and be able to connect with 75+ mb/s easily.

I would run a rest right now, but I'm wireless currently and that limits it to about 25mb/s for me. I will get around to posting another.

 

Website is down is the stuff there legal lolol? I'd actually be interested in learning it if I don't get v& a couple of months later because of it.



^ Hate my internet speed. We used to have like 8Mb/s with another company, and my dad fooled me (when I was like 16) by saying we were 'upgrading'. In actuality we went from cable to DSL which was like 8Mb/s > 1.5Mb/s. I'm not the one paying the bills so I can't do too much complaining, but he's only willing to fork over like $15 a month for internet. -_- FFFUUUU. It's really bad because I stay at my girlfriend's house 3-4 nights a week and she has 25Mb/s down 15Mb/s up lol (with FiOS) and it really spoils me.

 

Actually its accurate.. thats 2.87 MegaBits, not Megabytes.. 1 Megabyte is 8 Megabits, so you average about 200-300 kbs roughly

It is down frequently due to DDOS on top of a high amount of traffic. I know a few corporations (actually a lot) have been trying to take them down for some time now. Usually it comes back up within a day or two.

And it is not illegal, but it's against the ToS you sign when you subscribe to pretty much any service provider. The mac address of the modem is not registered to you because you change it, so they cannot tell exactly where you are but they can tell what "node" you're on and get a general idea. Usually they will only investigate if a few people complain about their speed and they see someone hogging it all for a specific area. DO NOT let any worker from any isp know about it as they are required to inform their employer of the situation.

I have been doing it for about 4 years now and a friend of mine for longer than that. Nobody has been caught that I know, but if you purchase a pre-modded cable modem from a site, there's a high chance that the people from the site will disclose your information if they go under. To combat this, just acquire a regular modem on your own and learn some soldering skills.

Bottom line, if you're smart about it and aren't downloading for weeks at a time, you should be fine.

Try googling Surfboard uncap, or modem uncap and browsing some of the forum sites. There's a lot of information out there on it. Some sites may be blocked by your isp though.

You can get much higher speeds than the ones I showed, but you have to take into consideration I'm in an apartment complex with a hundred other people using the internet and downloading all day.

He does a Livestream and uploads videos and that is his connection.

ATT Wifi, never really had internet faster than this, always had either everest or ATT, never moved too far, so I've had about 11MPS my whole life.
