I came back to sythe after 2 weeks or so? Been off studying and working hard :D

But before I left I remember I had lost an account that I purchased off a user named Chloecat. 2 weeks after purchase it got locked out of the blue, I made over 100 recovery and twitter attempts to no avail, then asked on here and someone said that original owner could request a lock but I refused to believe it and kept trying. God knows how many recoveries I made before it was recovered but not by me. I realized this because the normal "your account is locked please check message center" was gone. It was now "Wrong email or password" The account was old enough for a username login so it was definitely password meaning it was changed.
Afterwards I tried to contact the seller and settle thing but got nowhere so I opened a thread asking what was going on without revealing any information on the seller as to not ruin their business. However most people including Roary who locked the thread afterwards said that It was the sellers responsibility and to report it. I again talked to the seller but to no avail then opened a report thread: http://www.sythe.org/report-scammer-archive/1796511-chloecat-recovered-account.html

After this I didn't know what to do as the user was banned and the 200m on the account + £60 price I paid were gone. (The £60 was quite an underpay I'd say for an account of level 2150+ and a name with much higher maybe double the value) I messaged a mod then they said everything was sorted out and 2 days later this happened: http://www.sythe.org/dispute-forum-archive/1797451-locked-accout.html

So at the end of it I'm left clueless with no punishment handed out and I mean some closure would be nice.

I mainly posted this here asking on what to do now lol. Sorry for taking up so much of your time with all these long ass paragraphs :p

    Thanks,

    Hamza~

It's absolute bullshit that they unbanned her. If the account was still locked, unable to be unlocked, then she shouldn't be at fault, but since the log in message has changed to wrong email or password, it's quite clear that the original owner recovered the account. That responsibility should be then passed down to her since she was the one selling the account. It's a known fact that it's impossible for someone other than the original owner to recover an account without having the IP belonging to that respected person. She's obviously using the risks of buying an account excuse as a scapegoat to get away from owning responsibility for what happened.

This has to be the saddest thing I've read regarding the recovery of runescape accounts. That proof is impossible to come by and they know it.

If I were you, I would re-open a report, or ask a staff member why the responsibility doesn't fall on her. This whole thing was handled correctly, then incorrectly.

I was surprised there was an unban, especially after account got recovered, obviously.

Thanks for the replies, It saddens me lol but I messaged bladebro and a couple globals a while ago to no avail, I'm tempted to reopen a report but don't want to end up with the same result. It really demotivated me when they started asking for evidence relating to IP lol.
Like I can't really provide that kind of evidence and I mean if you look at what I've said it kind of adds up. Thanks to this whole thing I'm on a loss of a lot more than just the account and its belongings.

I'm a bit confused at the outcome here as well. As Ghast said, recoveries are only successful if the original owner is the one who attempted it. So it would seem to me that Chloecat successfully recovered the account.

In the case that she isn't the original owner, wouldn't she still be responsible in this situation? Shouldn't a refund be issued, at the least?

Apparently the account belonged to her "boyfriend", and he was the original owner. It's ridiculously easy to scam if you just claim you're not the original owner, when in fact you are. I'm not saying she's lying, just throwing it out there. A refund should have been the appropriate compromise, or a ban if she isn't able to pay.

Looking into this. Just because you're not the original owner doesn't mean you're off the hook.

Take out all the gold you got in the account just in case and put 25mil max on it. If it gets locked again, then I really don't know.

If an account gets locked it's usually the other person recovering it.

    Good luck though!

Ban, refund or account unlocked. That's the case in ALL other RAS reports where an account is locked.

Report a scammer. Your claim is still valid if the owner made no attempt to refund you.

Should I bother asking the seller for a refund beforehand or just make the report again? Last time I seemed like a bit of a bother to blade and don't really like imposing lol :/
Just a side note, I've definitely lost the 200m on there right?
