Sythe Prizeboxes

Hi all-

I'm pleased to announce a new feature for $100+ donors!

If you have at least $100 in donor credit, you will receive a prizebox for every additional $50 you donate! (I will clarify that the actual donation amounts must be $50 or more; two $25 donations will not result in a prizebox!)

So basically, here's how this works:

1. Have at least $100 in donor credit;
2. Make a donation of $50 or more;
3. You'll be awarded a prizebox MiniRank!
4. You can then visit the User Center to redeem the prizebox MiniRank for a random prize!

Currently, the only prizes in the prizebox are MiniRanks. We do, however, intend to add additional prizes in the near future.

You can get any tradeable MiniRank which isn't locked. Please reference the User Center's MiniRank section for more information about which are tradeable.

The rules are, restated:
IF you already have made $100 or more worth of donations THEN for every donation you make over $50 from now on you will get a prizebox.

IF you already have made $100 or more worth of donations AND you make a donation greater than $50 THEN the number of prizeboxes you receive is the amount of the donation divided by $50, rounded down.

Care must be taken to maximise the number of prizeboxes you will get for your donations. Here are some clarifying examples:

• If you have $100+ donor status and you donate $100, then you will receive TWO prizeboxes.
• If you have $100+ donor status and you donate $25 and then another $25 you will receive NO prizeboxes, as the donation amount has to be equal to or over $50 to win a prizebox.
• If you have $100+ donor status and you donate $50 you will receive ONE prizebox.
• If you have $100+ donor status and you donate $55 you will receive ONE prizebox.
• If you have $50+ donor status and you donate $50 you will receive NO prizebox. However you will then be at $100 donor status so a second $50 donation would get you a prizebox.
• However if you have $50+ donor status and you donate $100 you will receive NO prizebox because at the time of the donation you were not a $100+ donor.

The minirank prizes are randomized in such a way as to preserve the rarity of rare miniranks. The chance of getting for example a penguin is very low. The algorithm automatically updates according to the current distribution of miniranks.

I'm open to the idea of giving some prizeboxes to existing donors so they don't miss out. Maybe make a poll/thread in the suggestion section so it can be discussed.

 

No, but we want to discourage people from donating numerous small amounts. Transaction fees are of the form flatcharge + percentage. If you donate $50 as fifty $1 donations then we get almost nothing. So as incentive to batch your donations into bigger amounts you can win a prizebox.

 

You can have multiple of the same minirank. They stack.

The prizebox outcome is not dependent on your current minirank holdings.
