Expansion?

I don't know anything about the situation. But if it were possible, it would be sweet to expand this site to be a gaming hub more than it is currently.

Maybe a section for all of the games listed here: http://www.statista.com/statistics/251222/most-played-pc-games/

Could have trading or not. Have more support sections where people can go for gaming advice and help. And sections to find people to play with.

Not saying should or should not. I just think it would create a livelier community with more to share with each other. And it would attract many more people.

Not sure if that interests Sythe, Admins, Mods, or the current community though..

 

Adding more sub-sections would bulk more responsibilities for the specific staff members, it would also be a lot more hassle for the higher ups to organise.

By what I've already noticed there are already some sub-sections that aren't being used as often, there wouldn't be any further need for more.

 

Add more staff. I think there are a few people around qualified. Even if all they do now is bullshit in Spam Forum

Obviously doing anything ever is hassle. But I think expansion is the only way this Runescape based forum will survive, if that's what they intend for it to do.

I think it's the RIGHT sub-sections that will be the difference. For example I never did find a great community when I played Ark: Survival Evolved. This site could fill that role and other roles.

My personal first would be to add Ark: Survival Evolved

Then to attract more people, maybe like GTA: 5, Guild Wars 2, Smite, DOTA 2, and Star Wars: The Old Republic are some ideas.

Personally I'm more interested in having a lot of cool people around to talk to, discuss with, get advice from, and partner with to game. With the markets as a second-thought. (I personally don't/won't be using markets, which is why I don't know if this is a relevant suggestion as this is marketed as the "CL of Virtual Goods" and these games don't have much to trade)

 

Honestly, the sections you speak of would be dead by one week. At the moment, this is mainly a trading forum, and the discussion sections are pretty dead as is. Adding more won't help. We need a new plan to revive the discussion sections already implemented before adding more.

I agree they will be dead by week one because it will take a bit for people to realize they are there. Give them a couple months and then decide if they were worth it and if they will be in the future.

Adding more relevant sections would be the revival it needs. The current sections are pretty much only relevant to the people already here.

If there is anything that will bring more people in, it would be adding sections that many people will be interested to come here to be a part of.

 

I think we are trying to expand, and that's great. Adding more sections doesn't usually result in increased activity though.

It's quite obvious that with the amount of time and resources being invested into Xenforo that Sythe is hoping the changes will encourage increased growth with the forum. Having a new sleek look and a more user friendly forum software will hopefully do this.

With regards to sections, the theory is usually great, however after an initial rush of activity, sections fade and just get merged into Other Games. However after Xenforo is implemented, I'd consider supporting the addition of some new forums if I reckon it can sustain some sort of activity.

 

We also need to cater to those markets as well. We can't just open up a section and expect people to know, then join the site to use it. I had an idea in regards to TF2 a few years ago (here) that would involve opening a server which would advertise Sythe.org, drawing users who were interested in TF2, or CS to Sythe to gain perks on the servers. Eventually they would turn into a zone to recruit new members who were interested in games other than RS.

I think we have a very strong presence in relation to RS, but I have always wanted to see the site expand it's boundaries and attract more into the market. We had a strong WoW presence for a while, but that's kind of died down now. I also believe that's in part because the game itself isn't as large as it used to be 5 years ago, but at the same time this site has nothing to cater to those members besides the fact that we have one section for it in the market, and a so called "discussion" section which is lumped in with literally every game not called "Runescape, Counterstrike or League of Legends".

I don't think we need to get our current members involved in other games, I think we need to start catering to soon-to-be new users here who have other interests. As of now, if someone isn't interested in the RS market, but is wanting to buy some steam keys, Fifa tokens, or any other currency not called RSGP, there are better options that cater towards those folks than Sythe. It's like we ride the fine line of kind of having sections here, while not really promoting them to outside users. We just hope the ones who know RS also are into those markets as well.

Yeah I think it's perfect timing to add more with the Xenforo implementation. I think if we add games that are on the top of the list of people playing then we're sure to rake in at least some people. Can't say how many till we try.

Well I currently run a Ark: Survival Evolved server and I could send people here if it was a real thing. I think N4no does as well. For every game section we have I think we could have some people advertising Sythe for it.

Yeah, a lot of these games don't have a community to call home. With proper optimization that could be us.
