Only registered users can see the NAME SALES forum.

I know that this site relies on getting new members and such with an open forum, but having the name sales forum discrete to only registered users would prevent banned unregistered users from their pursuit on lurking around and finding names to snipe. In addition, this could help with more banned name sales users actually using the pardon system to pay back scammed victims (because they want to be apart of the name community, or at least see whats going on) Also, Sythe is one of the only sites with an actual separate name sales forum, and if people were actually interested enough in what Sythe has to offer, they would just sign up. It's not hard. I know this is on the DNS list but this be the ONLY part of the site that needs filtering. In my strong opinion this could be a good inclusion to the site and keep users from losing potentially billions of gold in snipes. I know a couple of people who have lost EXTREMELY rare names due to snipes from banned unregistered users. And it's something that happens all of the time which is the sad part. Let me know what you guys think. If you don't like the idea, let me know why.

 

Support. The name sales forum should be privatized to unregistered users because of the mischievous behavior it attracts. By doing this, you limit the flexibility of sniping names.

 

This won't stop anyone, and if anything would stand aa greater chance of hindering new members who are looking for a name market, but fail to find one due to the fact it's hidden than it would at stopping snipers.

 

It's not hidden, all you have to do is sign up. It's not that hard these days. I'm not suggesting that it completely disappears, but like other forums when you click on it there is a message that says "you have to sign up to view this page" or something similar. They know it's there, all they have to do is register. If you could, change "see" to "view"

 

Support. I am not part of the name market but I can see why this would help. Especially for big time name sellers who probably get lurked 24/7.

 

They will just make an account on a VPN. Don't really see it being helpful. Besides, there is now a guide recommending you keep them private, so if they don't read that, it's on them

 

Not that this is a good example, but not everyone knows how to use a VPN. Ryan who has vaded 30+ times, is known for sniping many highly desired rare names that were for sale on here. The thing is, he doesn't know how to use a VPN so he's caught easily with an IP check. Yes, people use VPNs to vade, but there is definately not a considerable amount of people that do this to deny this idea. Also, a large portion of the people in the name community are just plain stupid. It pains me to say it, but it's true. I think we've all gotten scammed/fucked in there in some way shape or form.

I think because people are unsmart about keeping their names hidden and such that this would be an excellent addition for keeping names a bit more discrete. Most people post their names in the "Name Price Check Topic" Which anybody can have access to. I think by approving this suggestion this we eliminate SOME (not all) snipers capability of having access to all of this information and we set a higher chance for previously banned users to pardon and return to Sythe.

Regardless if people use vpns and proxys to vade a system like this creates another obstacle in the path of scammers which hinders them in one way or another. I don't think it's a bad idea to require a certain amount of posts, require a certain amount of time active, or just require registration on sythe in order to view the name sales area.

 

Wolf I don't think Richard would approve like X post count for a section like that because we are a free market.

You could always have the "name forum" listed on the main site and then when unregistered users try to access it doesn't allow them. Like upperspam forum for newcomers.

And it obviously wouldn't stop people 100% but it does put a further coat of restriction.
That's like saying not to get 2 factor auth because it's not going to stop you from getting hacked.

 

I think this would be a good idea. People usually give away their names instantly if it's something that's actually rare at a great value. Instead of hiding it, they simply just tell you straight up so there's no confusion. This also adds a lot of attraction to that specific name, good attraction and bad attraction. Snipers will always exist, but limiting them is a great way to start at preventing name stealing.

Yes, but doing so would be considered "Ban evading" Which is against the sythe rules

No, that leaves way too many legitimate users out of the dust, even if this was approved 24 hours isn't a long while. We want to attract users, not have them wait for something that they want to do.

 

Account creation, registration and a total login time of 24 hours (1440 minutes) would be a solution that would make things worthwhile.
