    Hiring Threads

So got an infraction for reposting my hiring thread. I didn't read the new rule so I take fault for that.

However, it brought to my attention that there seems to be a flaw in this system. Business after business are going to post their jobs that need filled in the sticky. The problem with this is other posts getting senselessly buried by new, emerging businesses.

Due to it being a sticky, you're not allowed to bump your post. This is what confuses the shit out of me. 9/10 Sythe users aren't going to go back more than 2 pages to see what jobs are open and will just look quickly and notice nothing excites them. This is unfair to other employers no matter the circumstance.

Now I get that bumping a sticky is quite annoying and such. So I bring a different method of hiring.

Solution: On initial post in the sticky, have a list of what companies are hiring and have them organized according to their respective game or event.

For example this is what it could look like.

Cloud9 Runescape Solutions Looking for questers, skillers, and other RS related topics.
    Harleigh's Runescape Service Questers
Ultimate Pro Sales Customer Chat Representative

That is just a quick layout. Each employer can then write a one sentence description of what they're looking for. That sentence can be placed by the link of their thread.

There can be LoL, MMO, Customer Service, etc.

I know this would be annoying for a mod or whomever is put in charge of this, but I see the need for this for businesses to grow. With business growth, so does Sythe.

    Thanks

I highly doubt employers would overlook "buried" posts. When going through a real listing directory, would an employer only look at new posts? There is no need to bump that thread after already posting in it.

It'd take a lot of effort from a moderator to keep the sticky up to date, but if one is willing to do it, I don't see why not.

I would support a sub forum in market discussion as these are very common but I'm not going to add more to the moderators plates to do something like this.

Okay so it boils down to.

    1. There are too many "hiring threads that are spamming the market section, which are now overrunning a sticky" and a sub forum should be made

    Or

    2. There is not enough activity for a sub forum and it works just fine in a sticky or the market section.

I wasn't a part of the discussion, but at the time I assumed that it was in an effort to avoid the forum being filled with users posting resumes.

Could it be beneficial to have a resume topic instead of a listings topic? Then potential employers could look through it and still post a regular listing in the forum (similar to the middleman forum + the request a middleman topic.)

I'm not saying from employer standpoint. I'm talking about for an employee looking for a job. Not all are detectives and will look through threads, they're just going to look at first few and then go with it.

Edit: I'd also be willing to help with this if needed.

This is by far the best way to handle the situation. Before the thread was instituted, individuals looking for employment were cluttering up the forum, not employers.

Having users looking for jobs posting were cluttering as you said.

There maybe should be some sort of criteria to be able to post a hiring post/thread. For example, X join date, X posts, X vouches, etc. Something that shows it's legitimate.

Otherwise, I think my solution for the sticky would be quite easy and productive for the business side of Sythe.

I made the suggestion because those threads did not constitute as market discussion, and it was unnecessary clutter.

You don't have to be a detective to look through 4 pages of posts.

If its down to avoiding the forum being flooded with resumes, we could just have a different subsection for resumes. This wouldn't be far off from having a section for vouches, essentially they can be deemed as the same.

I do want a section or to have the ability to post job offerings, I feel as if OP is correct in that it is not very organized in the sense that offerings will get pushed down the list. I don't understand why we are unable to create threads in the section "Market Discussion", it will only promote activity.

I believe we should just be able to post Job Offerings as a thread because it will allow a more organized way of viewing applications. I don't believe this will harm Sythe in any way, and have not a single clue as to why this rule is in place.

There is no promotion of activity that discusses the market. It's a clutter of employment threads overtaking the real discussion.

This is how I see things.

If there is in fact a sub forum created for these threads, does it belong as an extension of Market Discussion? It's not really discussion of the market, so it's kind of an oxymoron.

Do you make a new forum entirely in Market Tools? It's a better fit, but is there enough activity to warrant one? I don't see the admins coming to this conclusion, however it is a better solution if a forum creation is an idea.

The only probable solution as of now is the one OP is proposing.
