Anime Forum

Consider the following, and come to understand that it's science and proven and true:

Boobs > Video games > Anime > Living(not being alive, but wellbeing)

Now, I don't see a thread for boobs (or I think I don't, maybe it's hidden in the neopet sale section who knows), which is completely understandable this isn't a porn website. I see a lot of threads for video games, which comes second best in the life of everyone everywhere. This also makes sense because I mean, it's the reason this website exsists.

What's strange though, as I look down the list of forums, I see a forum pretaining to real life and real life problems...now this goes against the chart of true science. I see it going straight from video games to living...

...We're missing anime.

An anime forum where can post about discussion and stuff.

Huge support, i love my anime, i play league with my gf, watch anime with my gf, and sleep and eat food with my gf, and thats the best life in the world, i really dont think anime fits in the section you named @chaotiiiikid.

 

Majority of animes are TV shows, so they go in the TV show section. Where's the confusion? Not to mention there's not nearly enough active anime posters to warrant it's own section.

 

Not sure where this would go. I'd assume if it's anime it'd be TV section. If TV section is too overflowed with anime threads, then yeah we'd need one.

I don't see the need as of now.

 

Don't really think its needed at the moment due to the lack of people at the Movies and Television section.

As an anime fan for almost all my life, I wouldn't consider most animes to be included under television/movies. I'm sure all see a clear distinction from your average tv show/movie and anime. You wouldn't affiliate the 2 on your own. If you turned on your tv on basic cable and found some english subbed zetsuen no tempest im sure you'd be surprised. Same goes for if you went to the movies and saw the latest one piece movie playing. There isn't an approriate topic for it already, and that's why there are no threads or comments discussing it.

 

Typical animes follow the TV show format of being installed in seasons, with 20-30 minute individual episodes. What do you think Toonami was? Anime on TV. What do you think Adult Swim is? Anime on TV. Because it's typically a TV show. Not to mention there are currently two separate anime threads on the first page of the TV/Movies section. You're beating a dead horse here.

 

While i do understand staff's decision to not put a sub-cat or new category in the forum, i still want to challenge chaotiiikid's view.
Chaotiiiikid, if you turnn on to toonami you'd say theyre broadcasting anime. (not cartoons), thus toonami is a platform on the TV for the convenience of the consumer to watch Anime. I would easily debate that its stigmatized. However i would never say when asked what im watching, when watching Death Note that im watching a tv show. and i bet 10 pennies that u wouldnt either. We'd all say "im watching anime" when we watch one piece, not "im watching a tv show".
if you turned into any other platform broadcasting say interstellar, youd say they are broadcasting a movie (movie genre)

Practically all animes have been created for TV shows and there is a section for that already (as said above). And as bartons said, I wouldnt see it being his own section if the TV section isnt "overflowed with anime threads".

 

At this point not only are you arguing for the sake of it as the decision has already been made, but you're seriously splitting hairs so hard.

"A TV show."

You know why I'd say that? Because I'm watching it on the television. You can't take one website's categorical decisions as law.

There's a thread for boobs in usf. . As for anime, it's too niche of an interest to be worth creating a section, just post in the relevant media section.

 

Unpopular opinion here. I wouldn't want to bring in the type of people that commonly obsess over anime. They're on the same level as Bronies. Annoying as hell.

 

People that think anime and my little pony is the same thing are on the same level as people who think homosexuality is wrong because it says so in the bible. It's not even almost the same thing, and a seperate thread to make friends on the forum who have similar interests and discuss those interests wouldn't draw anyone in, it would bring the people have the similarities together.

I don't care the negative comments on this post, I still believe that there should be a forum solely for manga/anime. It's not the same as and shouldn't be categorized with television/movies for the reason I stated already.

I don't want to debate, I didn't want negative comments on the post in the first place, especially repetitive ones. It was a suggestion, if it follows through then so be it.

 

First you must be a pretty poor reader, as I never said MLP was Anime and I never said anything about Homosexuality. I compared the two followings to one another. I've had a lot of interactions with people obsessed with anything Anime to the point where if you try to argue that there is anything else they want to fight, just as you're doing. You never made any points about why it is different than any other form of broadcasted media. Anime is the same as any other cartoon, soap opera, docudrama, or sitcom, they're television series or film.

I think there are a lot of amazing anime and I have watched my fair share and they're a few that anytime anyone asks about television or movies I recommend. That being said there are a lot of people that take it to the extreme and obsess about it endlessly like it is the only thing in life, like Bronies do.

Also you didn't suggest a thread, you suggest a section. There is a huge difference there. You can go make a thread anytime you want and if you're that passionate about it then you should, but there isn't enough activity to justify a complete section. Any reasonable person would say 'Oh, there is the TV section I bet I can find other people talking about anime there' not 'Oh, there isn't an anime section here so that must mean there is no discussion.'

tl;dr: Your argument makes no sense. Anime is either television or movies, they're not some sort of meta-genre.

You have no point. You just listed a bunch of shit. Quantity of media doesn't mean that it isn't classified as either television or movie. Anime is a genre within each. It's like this, there is a shit ton of classical music and it sounds really different from contemporary music but it is still music. You've still yet to make a point.
