Sythe pm rule change.

What would you consider to be a valid time and why? if possible please add your reasoning for supporting said time(s).

I think something like:

You must require a sythe PM with text or a screenshot of the immediate conversation regarding the trade.

 

As I read it for every trade you should recieve a quick confirmaiton PM of some of the conversation. Takes about a minute and keeps everyone safe. I don't really care to put a timeframe on it as certain trades take longer and there are always unexpected delays/problems with trades that could push a time-limit rule.

 

inb4 the rule is changed to a "reasonable time"

Normal users: if a pm is received 12 hours before a trade and said skype username scams -> Banned
Mods: if a pm is recieved 8 hours before a trade and said skype username scams -> Hacked

 

Just set a time of 7/33rds of a second so people won't batch about a reasonable time.

 

Do you think a specific amount of time should be set?
or just moderator discretion (because different types of trades takes longer?)

Would it have to changed depending on the type of trade?

Does anybody know how long aproxx it would take to recover a skype?

Why not just one per transaction?

 

A rule wouldnt hurt. But people should just do this automatically.

 

I agree with Drento, If you request a PM before every transaction, it will be safer for everybody.

 

I'm sure scammers are looking at this with a big smile on their face... Maybe next time reports should be read before anyone even knows who is behind it so as not to lead to a biased decision... which is obviously becoming a huge problem.

 

One per transaction is the best way to go about it.

 

It's not becoming a huge problem, just need some common sense when doing trades. For example when it comes to runescape I always ask a PM with the account name in it who I'm trading the gold to. It's not like there is a hord of 200$ donors waiting to scamm people.

 

If you are new and you don't take the necessary steps to not get scammed you will get scammed , however there are plenty types of forms where you can prevent that, experience is a huge grade and the 'risks' of getting scammed will dramatically decrease. I think that with the time you will get used to it.

 

Yeah I just always give them a message to PM me exactly as I gave to them.

Even then it still takes little to no time to send a quick PM. If people are legit the 15 seconds really shouldn't bother them.

 

One Pm per transaction is the best I agree. Don't have to put a time frame or whatever cause situations vary too much.

 

Probably don't even need one per transaction. Just one verification pm that proves that the skype/msn/whatever is the same person as sythe account.

 

Which is exactly the problem when someone gets hacked. So if I sent a confirmation PM two weeks ago and I got hacked I'd be responsible? If it was one per transaction everything would be much safer.

 

how would the 1 pm per transaction be moderated? should what your trading be put in the pm? or just a part of the current coversation?

 

Due to the recent spate of hackings, we now require a SYTHE PM confirming the Skype you're talking to in order for a scam report to be considered valid. This PM must be confirmed RIGHT before the transaction is initiated.
EDIT #1: Suggested PM: This is _____ trading you, ______ on my skype _______. I am trading _______ for _______. Speaking on Skype confirmed.


How about that? That way it's not an issue of how long the whole conversation of the trade is but rather a quick fix that people should PM right before you press the "accept" button for RS3GP, the "pay" button for Paypal, etc.

EDIT #2: Edit #1 is a bit of a long rule to implement.

EDIT #3: Let's put this in a scenario. You contact the person through Skype. You add each other and based off their Sythe profile, this is in fact their Skype and has not been reported as hacked. Now let's say it's a trade that requires some time to set up. You spend about half n hour to an hour setting everything up. Everything is ready to go. Now you ask for a PM confirmation before actually initiating the trade of risked goods. Once that PM confirmation is sent, you have now placed liability on that person's Sythe account if there is a scam that takes place.
