Hi Roary more stuff for the admin list maybe

Just a list of general stuff that should be fixed.


Linkback doesn't work, also what the fuck is Linkback.
Digg doesn't work, Technorati doesn't work. Nor does anyone care to use previously mentioned services.

You could at least make the Linkback work, and have it give the thread's non-pretty URL.
aka the one with the numbers and shit before the SEO. It'd be useful for shorter links.




You can't do smileys in spam forum on the side, and possibly other forums.



Remove attachments. No one can/does use it. Can't think of a time anyone's ever used it. Ever. Even if they could the sizes are unuseful.
If admins/mods use it then just make it viewable to them.


Add more font sizes. Go by pixel size, not font size. It's do-able, it's better, and you can give more specific size options.


Add an HTML color picker.
You can even just... embed one already there, or have a useful link to it somewhere. Makes it quicker, easier.


Private message box is a weird small size.
There's a bunch of space on almost everyone's monitor.
Especially the height at least, come on.


Let people quote by ID or at least write the name of the person they're quoting easier.
Have it pop up like the URL button that asks you for the URL.
Then people can just leave it blank if they want a shitty quote that's not really a quote.


Miniranks should be clickable, or have a nicer hover that explains what the fuck it is, how to get it, etc


Button that says Archive is actually the Sitemap.
Maybe call it sitemap.


On the sidebar of Nexgen, add this stuff



and maybe some of this




and maybe make it a rounded version. It'd be useful I think.
oh and make the sidebar STAY there, so when you scroll down, it's still there

it'd be cool to even have a quick version of all the categories. anything other than what's already there. I don't want to know how many members there are or who's birthday it is, or my usertitle. or my name.



Add a small sythechat button next to everyone's name on thread view to promote using sythechat more often to message!
and also have a PM button, so it saves people from viewing someone's provite


threaded mode is useful.
but its small and weird. have a link somewhere that displays a fullscreen threaded mode, maybe with snippets of the text they say.
you could even make it link on the thread's "reply" count on the forum list


Put sythe chat here as a contact method
not next to the online/offline thing.

making sythechat useful for when people are offline could be a thing too.
maybe if they're offline, make it go to PM instead
or somehow notify people if they have messages on sythechat


Add buttons for the other BBCodes!
Like the dice, and shit like that.


When you hover over these subsections the description should be in the hover


people have to double click to mark a section as read, but it should be a single click



This should be somewhere next to this

if not too hard let you mark that entire category as read


Also ever thought of maybe having a version of Sythechat that opens automatically under this navigation bar
and let people "hide it" kind of like the shoutboxes on a lot of forums

and have more lobbies. at least a lobby for trades maybe



another useful thing, by the way, would be an "add to vouches" button that searches for the user's thread in the vouches forum and adds the quote they select it on to their vouches. but ... it might actually require some coding


Remove this from do not suggest list:
- Shoutbox (chatbox)

since we pretty much have sythechat now.



Sythe chat should also be added to who's online page

maybe even a "who's on sythechat" list that doesnt require you checking sythechat.

I agree with this, sometimes the stickies are hard to find with every piece of info new members are looking for, these ideas are perfect, especially for newbies

I guess i'll just post my suggestion here since it fits in.

Can we get the edit post options at the top of a post? It gets annoying to have to scroll down for awhile if your post is really long.

An additional thing id like worked on is mobile. Seriously everyone these days has a smart phone or tablet with them 24/7, most people hardly use PC's on a regular basis. Some features are gimped or simply non existant on mobile .

 

Yeah, Richard has seen Giv's mobile thread, so it's a waiting game really.

He said he'd make some time for the list, I'll just keep pestering

 

Richard, you should use Tipsy for the mini-rank names. It's literally adding a few lines of codes and you're done. It looks nice and is used by a lot of major sites.

These are some good suggestions. I don't think they would take long to add in either as they are just lots of little things. For example changing the "Archive" link will be as simple as changing the text to Sitemap.

 

I don't believe there are any forums that are closed for posting (last icon), and seeing as every forum has a custom icon now, it doesn't really have a place there.

 

I'm confused as to why that hasn't been done yet. It's a 5 minute job (the TapaTalk side of it anyway)
