Collation of Mini-Rank Suggestions

Mini-Ranks that should be made:

• Runescape Participant
  Possible images include: (already resized to correct size)
• Off Topic General Discussion Participant (have it include technology and media too?)
• Event Participant (Similar to Powerbot's. Was reason I suggested Mini-ranks)

Mini-ranks that maybe should be made:

Suggestions to do with Mini-Ranks

• Lower the post count required in sections that aren't as busy or in small sub-sections such as SFA, Graphics, Personal Support
• Change community participant from community general to all parts of our community that aren't exclusive or non-post count (Community General + all parts of Town Hall)

Post below with some more suggestions of ranks or other things regarding mini-ranks, this is just a thread to collate them all. Also if you have ideas for the images of the ranks, post below also.

Kind of off-topic but I think the requirement for the post-oriented ranks should be brought up.
There's so much borderline spam because of them. 10 posts in a week is turning in to 10 posts in an hour.

Both ideas are good. Maybe raised to 25 posts a week for popular sections.

The star mini-rank will also give new members an incentive to earn a mini rank while learning some more about trading safe and such.

So the star would be for reading the tutorial? How would that be handled though, it can't be for just viewing it because people could just view it and not read it or something. Maybe like a quiz at the end and if they get all the answers/majority correct then they get the mini rank for like a week?

No problem. Yeah that could work. I personally like Roary's image better but we should put it up to the majority.

 

Yeah the last page and a half or so of the "Newcomers" suggestion goes on to suggest a quiz at the end. I'm not sure how it'd be managed though, it's just a concept for now.

 

ID support this i also agree with RWMRS2 The post should be moved up to like 20-30 Post per week in a section, our sections are busy enough. We should actually have people work for the mini ranks not just give them away and the spam forum should be moved to like 40-50 post per week and that goes for other sections the smaller the section the smaller the number of post per week, but as Jack said we do need to add more mini ranks so a variety of users can have some.

 

I REALLLLLY like the quiz idea, give people incentives to read the rules (and newcomer guide) and familiarize themselves with the content.

However i doubt most people would want to do that if it were a "newcomer" rank as that doesnt exactly have a good connotation here.

I suggested the hover description be "Market Quiz Champ" or something to that effect.. so it's not totally nooby but it does look good.

I feel they should be moved up a bit too, but not as high as 20-30 and 40-50 in the spam forum as that way people will literally have to spam or be VERY dedicated to get them. I think that maybe like 15 posts in a week for regular sections and like 20-25 for spam forum would be more appropriate.

Yeah it could be named something else like "knowledgeable user" or something that is more appealing.

 

If there was a RuneScape discussion one I'd be perm having it, it's my favourite section. Would love to see these, good idea JG.

 

Im sure NANO will approve some of this if not see all of it as a benefit we shall see, it all seems like pretty good ideas I mean I know the post for 1 should be moved up a bit not 10 most def, but adding to the ranks yes sir.

Also I think there should be one for Most Whorish Users of the week IMO

 

I doubt "most whorish users of the week" would be made as, due to the professional nature of this forum something like that would be kinda derogatory and unfair to the user.

 

Good deal, i feel we could cut down on a lot of scams (and scammers getting away with it) if people felt inclined to throughly read over that thread. I myself was scammed for an upgrade and like a total dumbass didnt take screen shots ect or practice safe trading and was unsuccessful in getting the user banned before he went on to take advantage of another.

I can say nearly without a doubt if the rank and quiz/thread in general were implemented before hand myself and the user scammed afterwards would not have fallen victim.

Another incentive to possibly help out with scams and ban evaders would be the minirank deathsnova suggested (a minirank for ban evader/scammer catcher) in this thread http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?p=11886855#post11886855 .

I proposed this rank (half jokingly) for either the ban evader/scammer catcher or backseat mod minirank.

 

I believe in the past there was a suggestion for like an official tally of ban evaders being caught or something and that was denied (can't find it though). I think a detective rank or something like that could be nice, maybe a pic of a magnifying glass or something sherlock holmes related, for x amount of ban evaders caught or something. That is of course, if people want it (I don't go looking for vaders much)

 

Theres like 5 serious ones i have in my thread that got me locked/infracted if you want to look at them jack, didnt realise there were 2 threads.

So for those active members in the Xbox section could get a mini rank of a 360 sign <3

 

Like these ideas, you could also have other off-topic mini-ranks like Music and Sport/Health & Fitness. Not exactly sure what the mini-rank image could be, possibly headphones for the music, and some dumb bells for Sport..
