    1. Introduction

I am fairly new to the community but have been very active on sythe and have made it my home ^_^. I am mostly in the Steam Account Sales section but also go to the RuneScape section, once in a while. I also hangout in the Something For All and General/Off Topic which always provide something interesting to read. I apologize for not making this thread the most visually appealing but I tried my best with my limited gfx skills . If you have any questions you can ask in my intro thread.
    ;)

    2. What this guide hopes to accomplish

I wrote this guide to accomplish a couple of things: 1) lower the amount of daily incomplete threads posted daily 2) prevent new members from being scammed, 3) make life easier for the Staff so that they can deal with more important things such as: scam/spam reports, ban evaders, etc, and 4) increase the overall quality of threads in the section.

TL;DR To better the Steam Account Sales section.

    3. Proper format for threads (w/ examples)

This seems to be the biggest problem for newcomers who have trouble formatting their posts correctly so I will dedicated a large portion of this guide to this part. Most new members(and some older members?) often forget to follow the guidelines which can be found here.

I will point out problems that are: major(thread will be closed/against rules), minor(won't get your thread closed but will cause confusion/can be improved), and very minor(small thing that can be fixed to make it perfect).

Wrong Format and why it is wrong:
    • Screenshot does not show vac status --> main problem
    • The screenshot provided is poor quality(when you click on it). --> minor
    • OP does not mention games that the account has or any other information that would be helpful --> minor
    • OP did not upload it to a image site --> very minor

Wrong Format and why it is wrong:
    • Does not provide proof that he has Skyrim --> major
    • Does not provide details(whether its a gift of account) --> minor

Here I will point out some threads that are well formatted and very neat/clean.
Correct format and why it is right:
    • Includes screenshots/proof of cdkeys(the SCANS link)
    • Explains his rules/terms and conditions clearly
    • Lists the price of all the products he is selling
    • Overall, very clean format.

Correct format and why it is right:
    • Includes all the required screenshots(games & vac status)
    • Clear about what it comes with(proof of purchase, etc)
    • Includes a price/price range so that buyer has clue of what hes looking for.

    More examples of WRONG threads: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

    More examples of CORRECT threads: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

    4. How to prevent account from being disabled

This is not an exact science but you can take precautions/steps to help prevent it. This section is a SUPPLEMENT to FlyingToast's thread, specficically, the (7aa)How do I prevent Disables? part.

    • Read (7aa)How do I prevent Disables? part of FlyingToast's Guide
    • Do NOT use the same email under two accounts.
    • Do NOT log into a high risk/recently stolen account on the same MAC ID as your own accounts or other accounts.
    • Do NOT log into an account with another person logged into it.
    • Wait a few days(preferably 1-2 weeks) before selling the account as to not put up any red flags
    • As a seller, do not change the password/security question before selling it.

    5. Extra security measures to prevent account from being disabled

Keep in mind this is for beginners so there are methods/things left out as well. Overall, with a combination of these guidelines, you should be fine.
    • NEVER post the username or steamcalculator link in the thread --> it is rumored that steam admins browse these forums
    • Make sure you block out the username + email of the account in screenshots
    • Do NOT log into multiple accounts in one session without clearing your cache or changing your MAC ID's.
    • As stated in part 4, as a PRECAUTION(not a must), slowly change the account details(community name, friends, etc)
    • DO NOT deal with people who post the account username or email in public. If it gets suspended then it is your fault because you should have seen it coming
    • More to be added as people chime in...............

    6. Scamming

Scamming is a huge problem on sythe and very much so in Steam Account Sales. If you notice, most of the scammer reports in this section are from newcomers who fail to follow BASIC precautions and whose scammer reports are invalid because of a lack of proof. I have talked to staff and they DO sympathize with those who were scammed but they can not help if new members DID NOT TAKE THE TIME TO READ STICKIES.

Here are some basic measures to prevent scamming...
    1. Always request a PM from the seller to confirm his identity and the trade amount
    2. Make sure his MSN matches the MSN he pm'd you on sythe, and not an imposter(e.g [email protected] vs [email protected])
    3. Always screenshot trades and MSN chat windows to keep as proof if anything goes wrong in the trade. It is better to go overkill with proof rather then little/no proof if something goes wrong. Some people like to take a video of the trade/sale so that there is undeniable proof (Just an idea)
    4. Keep a folder of all evidence of trades for a while so that if a scammer report is filed against you, you can provide proof as needed.
    5. Check out the users vouches to verify they are legit. Not ONLY that but check the value of the vouches. There are members with 50+ vouches who have only dealt with $10 while some members have less then 10 vouches but more then $100 traded so worry about quality rather then quantity.
    6. If it is a high risk/high value trade use a MM/OMM from the forums to protect yourself

    7. Conclusion

I hope this guide is helpful in covering things that are not in other stickies and will benefit the Steam Account Sales section. I have made is as visually appealing as possible so hopefully newcomers wont be scammed/discouraged from trading/selling. I spent many hours writing this so if these helped, please just say thanks ;).

P.S Credits to FlyingToast for reviewing my drafts. Happy New Years! :) :) :)

If you understand that your advice is effectively conjecture, why give it? You're just perpetuating an unfalsifiable misconception that an individual can take steps to "prevent" an account from being disabled, as if the system that disables them is not automatic or that there is some gray area in between an account being disabled, or not being disabled. There are nearly one billion Steam accounts, there's no human agent involved in disabling hijacked accounts, I'll tell you that much. There's also no clause in the subscriber agreement that disallows any individual from owning as many Steam accounts as they'd like, so there is certainly no point in spoofing your MAC or using different emails. Cheers.

If you have any suggestions then feel free to comment and I will add it to the article. I am talking from first hand experience of having dealt with steam and steam support. There sure is a grey area because we are simply speculating on how the system works. While it makes sense that the system is mostly automatic for disabling account, that doesn't mean that staff has no part in looking over flagged accounts at their discretion.

Beginners Guide to Steam Account Sales

I recently purchased a Steam account, and knew that in the back of mind it could be recovered.

I trust the guy, but was curious, how long would it take to recover an account, if they were to try and do so? Would they do it after a couple days? weeks? months?
