Ill will be competing NPC Northeast Nov 15th!

Hey whats going on! So just a couple of days ago I was approached by an NPC Body Builder and an NPC Bikini competitor at the gym and they asked me how many days out I was. Long story short, they talked me into competing in the NPC Northeast in Men's Physique in NYC this November 15th! This will be my first EVER competition. I always thought about it, but I look at some of those dudes I think they are out of my league.

But the 2 competitors said they would essentially sponsor me, not with money or anything like but take me under their wing and show me how its done. We're currently honing in my diet and my workout routines and also teaching me how to pose!

If anything I think it'll be a great experience even if I get my ass handed to me haha.

So this is me 3 months out from my first show. Nervous and very excited!!
Also, I just want to throw it out there...since this the "health & fitness" section I kinda expect everyone here to be a little more mature, I posted an underwear shot so you can see my legs. If anyone has a problem with it I will remove it.
**Lots of hard work ahead of me, there are a couple of things I know I need work on...like my rear delts, and lower back among other things! Obviously abs will start coming in more and more the closer I get to show time!**

Nice man, sounds like it will be a memorable experience regardless of the outcome. Would love to hear what some of what your "sponsors" tell you though I've heard the world of bodybuilding competitions is very grimy.

Haha thank you bro! Yeaa, those are exactly my thoughts...I figure the first time around will be pretty rough as far as how everything goes because I'll be the definition of "green" haha. I'll hopefully end up liking it and do it again next year with a little bit more experience...and the set goal in mind of competing because the idea was floated to me less than a week ago with only 3 months to prep haha.

Yeaaa that's what they told me as well...they said its all politics, I gotta get in there go to events get my name and my face out there if I really want to place! What would you be interested in hearing? I'll be sure to ask those specific questions! Hell whatever you wanna know I probably didn't think of, and it would be good for me to know anyway haha.

3 months out...From what Ive read and what people have told me I am a little too lean to be so far out. So I've increased my carb intake slightly...seeing how it effects me!

    Breakfast -
    2x Whole eggs
    2x Egg whites
    2x servings of cooked oats
1x Grape fruit/apple/banana/orange/grapefruit (just 1, but those are what I go to)

    Snack -
1x Protein shake (Optimum Nutrition Egg white protein, chocolate)
    1x Fruit (apple/banana/orange/grapefruit

    Lunch -
    10-12oz chicken breast
    Wild brown rice
    Protein shake

    Snack -
Protein bar (currently addicted to Quest bars, dont judge me haha)
    Greek yogurt

    GYM

    Dinner -
10-12oz chicken breast or USDA lean serloin steak
Sweet potato OR Wild brown rice
    broccoli/spinach/cauliflower/green beans

    Bed
    Protein shake

**I go kinda crazy on the protein shake because there are only 130 calories in it with 24grams of protein with essentially 0 carbs!

EDIT: And lots and lots of WATER!

Posing is hard, I keep practicing...but I have to look in the mirror to get it right/decent at this point, which isn't good because I won't have one soon haha.

I wouldn't have a clue where to start lmao. I generally just love discussing anything fitness though so even a basic overview of your experiences throughout would be awesome to read. Doubt I'd ever compete but a glimpse into that world would be nice.

Yeah I see you are really going hard on the protein shakes haha. You always were somewhat strict with your diet and it's going to pay dividends now.

I wouldn't have thought posing would be that difficult but now that I'm thinking about it, at that level, cm's would likely be the difference between a good score and a great one. Keep practicing bud, you'll get there.

Haha okay! Yeaaa I'm definitely going to update this as I go, my gym buddy that talked me into this in the first place is lending me a contest prep book, that covers everything from diet, workouts, what and how to eat a week out from a show to the day of. Something that I just learned I found very interesting...about a week out you're doing pretty much full body workouts for high reps, and the goal behind that is to pretty much suck all the water out of your muscles to show the most definition you can. Also the week out you pretty much cut your carbs out of your diet, at which point you get weaker and your muscles appear flatter. But the day before your show you carb up, and since your muscles are so deprived of them, they soak it all up making them fuller for the show. I've lightly experimented with this and its actually true, I'll throw up 2 pics showing it...its really kind of crazy haha.

Yea its fucking weird, there are 3 manditory poses...front, side, back...The front I look better with both arms down, side 1 arm on the waist looks better...and the back I'm fucked because I can't do a good lat spread lol.

Thanks brother, I just submitted all my registrations and such 200+ bucks later...I figured if I don't just throw myself into I won't do it.

Between the left pic and the right pic is only a day a part, taken around the same time (4-5pm)...top pic barely no carbs for the week, that day however I carb'ed up and the next day I took the bottom pic.

Damn that's crazy. While your two poses are different so it throws off proper comparisons there's a noticeable change between the two. You're invested now in it, give it your all.

Alongside raising your carbs what are your calories like at the moment? What's your maintenance?

Yeaaa I realized once I posted them, I didn't think anything of it because I compare everyday...but then I thought "wait a sec, hes not going to see what I see" haha!

I'm taking in between 3600-4000 calories a day RIGHT NOW, before I got this competing notion I was in the mind set of seeing how cut I could get (just in general, for my own personal goal). But once this show thing came up I realized keeping up the calorie deficit game for 3 months would destroy my size...soo I'm upping it until the end of September to gain back some size.

I can maintain what I have at about 3200 calories. The days that I can I workout 2 times a day...morning (if Im not heading to work at 530am) I do fasted cardio, and at night I do my usual weight training routine.

Thank you brother, I really appreciate it! I know I'll be posting pics from the show...hopefully I'll have "A" trophy in my hand lmao

Exactly haha, I know that feeling. It's always a good feeling seeing extra definition or an improvement in size. I really wish I took a starting picture at the start of my journey to look back on and truly show how much progress I've made but at the time I was too self conscious lol.

Looks like you've got a similar metabolism to me then, I've determined my maintenance to be 2800-3200 but you've got more muscles mass so down the line our intake may get closer.

Remember, if they don't give you a trophy you can always grab one and run! Haha

Ahh that sucks, I know exactly what you mean haha...like me you were probably skinny as a rail haha, I avoided pictures like the plague in HS lol. I'll have to find my old Prom beach house pic and post it. Literally my wrist and bicep look like they're the same diameter lol.

I'm guessing yours is fast too? And I'm also going to guess ectomorph as well?? Honestly we're probably really close, its kinda crazy how responsive your body is when you start playing around with your diet/workout routine....or hell I've noticed a difference when I changed up what time I workout haha.

Actually no, through high school I didn't exercise much asides from biking to and from school and didn't care about my diet. Essentially 6 years of neglecting my health. At 6'2 I didn't look too bad but I definitely was fat at 96kg. Damn that's crazy lol.

Yeah my metabolism is pretty fast though I'm a mesomorph actually! Yeah it's crazy how the body responds to changing little things. Surprised you realized a change in simply working out at a different time though, what change was this? Also with your focused macros what advantages do you notice over a standard diet?
