Purpose of life?

Well, as the title states, do you think there is a purpose in life? If so, what is it? Explain in detail, I'd love to hear all the different ideas members of the site have.

I, personally, believe there is no purpose in life. We're born, we follow what society has us do, for the most part, and die.

If a staff member sees this as more fit for General discussion, go ahead and move it. I thought it might spark up a debate along the way, though.

 

I believe there is no purpose in life either, it's so hard to explain why but seriously though it's mindblowing to think of it.

 

I remember reading a quote from Chuck Palahniuk that always stuck with me.

"We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will."

I don't know if there is any one specific purpose to life. Saying that there is a purpose implies that we were put here for a reason, and I don't believe that. That being said, I think we can all at least try to make this world the best possible world it can be, and to continue to better it for future generations to come.

Purpose of life is to leave an impact on the people you're surrounded by. And if you're a Christian (like me), it's to live a holy life and make it to Heaven.

Everyones purpose in life is unique and tailored for them. Forget other peoples purposes and do what makes you happy. Do all the great things you think of without worrying about your reputation. Worry about your character!

 

There is no predetermined meaning of life.

So therefore there is no meaning and we're here wasting our time.

 

Real question is why do most people feel the need to romantisize the unknown.

We are animals, in the animal kingdom the point of life is essentially survival and propagation. Thats it.

 

To succumb to a Governmental system fuelled by wealth and exploitation, apparently.

We're a microscopic speck in the midst of everything, we're pointless and we serve no purpose. We're just an accidental happening. But it's a phenomenal accident, and our lives should be happy if nothing else. Do what you believe in, make a change in the world and make it a better place for the people you love. Why waste such a cool opportunity to be alive? The trivial things that get us down often distract us from the surreal reality that we're alive and able to do anything on this planet if we put our minds to it. Have a blast, that's the point.

Your purpose in life is to find a purpose...for me its as simple as that. Figure out what you're passionate about and roll with it.

If the people of the world were born with one unified purpose shit would just not get done. Architecture, technology, music, art etc. . .

 

I don't think there is any universal one. I want to be happy, help others, and leave this place better than it was.
