Mindset of Taking Sides in Ideas

**THIS IS NOT MEANT FOR AN ARGUMENT OF WHICH OPINION IS "CORRECT"**

I'm sure we have all have seen and head the argument of god and sexual orientation, whether which one is actually "right" or "wrong" i decided will never truly be resolved nor should it be. What i really want to know is the mindset of those from either side. As a general rule, i want to know the mindset of a liberal and a conservative and how one chooses their stand. I'm also interested in the age group since i noticed that the younger generation are generally the ones who are more open to ideas that are not the norm. One of the main reason i wanted this thread out there is that i planned to take a intro psychology class in the fall semester and we have to finished with an essay/project pertaining to psychology and i thought this would be a fun base point for that assignment.

Question that should be in your responses:
Are you generally a liberal or a conservative?
Which specific topic are you representing (e.g. sexual orientation, spiritual beliefs, etc...)?
Your level of affinity towards this topic (1 being obsolete, 10 being can't live without this opinion?
What made you believe this way?
And if possibly Age group (not a specific age: high school, college, etc...)

    As for myself:
My mindset is generally a liberal. The two topics i used to find myself in heated debates in were existence of a higher power and sexual orientation. I say used to due the fact i now respect all opinions since it creates a more peaceful environment instead of the having an environment like the ridiculous comment section in YouTube which makes life just that much more stressful. I know idea of a higher power changed from believing in God to becoming atheist sometime in high school when i was learning about the Crusades while learning about evolution and truly understand both. I'm sure it pretty self explanatory how both led to not entrust a higher power anymore. As for sexual orientation i am straight myself but i could care less if someone loves opposite sex, same sex, or a sheep, as long as the person truly cares for him/her/it and is happy for themselves. As for age i just finished freshman year of college.

Are you generally a liberal or a conservative?

I don't fall in to either category, I have both conservative and liberal view on different topics.

Which specific topic are you representing (e.g. sexual orientation, spiritual beliefs, etc...)?

    Sexual orientation.

Your level of affinity towards this topic (1 being obsolete, 10 being can't live without this opinion?

2 - it's only an opinion, my opinions aren't fact.

What made you believe this way?

    It's just my natural opinion.

And if possibly Age group (not a specific age: high school, college, etc...)

    Post graduate.

I will do my best, English is only my 2nd language.

As for the topic, I don't think there is right or wrong. I'm not religious and I don't fully support gay marriage, the reason being is that marriage is a union of a man and a woman made before god by definition. Two men who wish to be married are doing so in defiance of the bibles teachings and insulting devout Christians/whatever else.

I have no problem with a civil union between two men but I'm against public displays of affection as it puts parents in an awkward position. Inserting homosexual culture in to TV is, in my opinion, is a bad idea. Children should be taught that the natural union of two people is between a man and a woman. It how we procreate and it's how we have made it this far. Children should be taught that there is nothing ''wrong'' with being gay but teaching them that it's completely normal and natural is a lie.

That me seem harsh, the use of the word 'unnatural' seems unfair but considering that homosexual men do not procreate naturally only reinforces the fact that homosexuality is not natural. It's natural to have traits that will aid with procreation, such as a healthy attraction to the opposite sex.

Some will say that people are born gay so it's natural, but some babies are born with two heads and legs sticking out of their stomachs, that's not natural by definition.

Some will say that animals display homosexual tendencies, but they also eat their own young and feast on their own poo, even when there is other food.

I think right and wrong on not the way to look at it, teach children that homosexuality exists and that it is OK, but don't glorify.

Sorry if my English is not good in some areas.

I am a very liberal thinker, however to discuss the topic of a higher power, i would say anyone in a position of power will abuse it. It's inevitable.

@4444RS (Won't quote since reply is very long)

As a first note, your English makes complete sense. I understand your view that you accept the existence of either sexual orientation yet i also see the reasoning behind not glorifying homosexuality. I would like to ask you (or anyone else reading) whether or not you believe people will or should start glorifying heterosexuality.

    @Fracesoaq
I like this phrase as it is a great opener for further discussion which i believe could make a great essay.
